Another one!!!! ahh! I lack the energy. Back to reading.

OP, do what you'd like with your stuff.
These guys feel VERY strongly about their opinions, and WILL NOT be steered into seeing your views as viable, no matter what you say, or how you say it.

Most of them are more than decent fellas, concerning any number of other topics, but the discussion of other random people using Fender's decal for anything non-Fender is absolutely not okay to them.
(This includes all fender licensed products as well such as Squier for example)

I tell you this because many members, myself included have already hashed this topic out, beyond exhaustion in many cases, and it's really goes nowhere. Such is life with many topics.

The reality is, they are right about their reasons, and in many people's views, you're reasons are just as right.
Unfortunately, the fact is, that there ARE more than enough low life people, who do it all for the hopes of making profit through fraud.
These people will ALWAYS be noticed.

Unfortunately, the guys who just, (as you said) want their project to be "complete" go completely unnoticed.

There are many people who do it, many more that have done it, and an endless amount who will add the Fender Decal to a parts bass.
Of course, we all hope it is not for any future scheme where some unsuspecting buyer gets shafted.

Just be conscience that the bass will likely out live you, and be sure it's heir is aware of what it really is.
Or it's buyer, should it happen to sell.
Or remove it, before selling.

You know, be honest, which seems to be in your plans anyway so I'm wasting my energy.
Or, optimistically viewed, I'm working out my thumbs. ;-)

I came here to ask for dimensions on the decal, not wether or not everyone was okay with what I was I doing. Frankly, I couldn't care. I have no intentions of ever selling any of my projects, ESPECIALLY as "real" Fenders. I wouldn't wanna be ripped off myself and I don't wanna do it to anyone else. It wasn't my intention to start a debate and I'm mad at myself for entertaining it this far. I'm done with it and will continue with my project as I please.

I'm just glad to know that if I ever do buy a Squier I can sand the decal off secure in the knowledge that there are places where I can get a Squire decal for it. The decal police will be ok because they can't spell Squire any better than the rest of us but the Squier police....

Bwahahahaha!

I own a 1975 Fender fretless Precision and I had the neck re-lacquered years ago (maple neck) resulting in loss of the decal. I just lived with it for years, the heel marks are still there. So I am not faking anything and would like a serious answer to this threads question.

Never ordered from the place the OP asked about, but yes, you certainly can get an exact copy made.

There are plenty of places online to go through.

Due to the Internet do gooder squad, many of these places feel the need to maintain a low profile, and don't prefer their info shared in public settings.
Like their selling crack to premi babies or something.
Lol they may only meet you in a dark city alley to finalize the deal. :-)

If I can remember, I'll send you the highly classified link.
It will self destruct in 30 days.

I understand the OP's perspective...the fake decal is like the cherry on top of a project.

But why cloud the end result of your hard work with the stigma associated with a fake Fender decal?

I'd go the extra mile, off the beaten path, and put a fake Ibanez decal on it instead. If you could get a fake '70s Ibanez lawsuit decal, that would be deschiznit...imo, ymmv, etc.

Here's your huckleberry.

How does that work?
Stop being so pissy over nothing. A lot of people will agree that a blank headstock looks bland, and a lot of people will agree that Fender's logo is a very aesthetically pleasing one.

I don't get why you guys have such an issue with this. it's his bass, not yours.

The irony is that Fender makes so few of their guitars anymore. Their models change constantly. They are made everywhere for everybody. They dilute their own brand. They put Fender stickers on everything. However, that is their right with copyright.

I am against fraud. I wouldn't need a Fender decal on a non Fender guitar. However, I don't care if someone else places one on their guitar.

I don't have the means to buy a high-price vintage Fender original. I wouldn't want one if I did. I am therefore not afraid of being ripped off. Also, knowledgeable folks can spots the fakes in a heartbeat.

To the OP: Why not just buy the sticker. If you like it, use it. If not, find something else. Best.

For all the decal threads everyone still fails to mention necks. Maybe it doesnt stand out to some?

Don't we all realize that only US Fenders have truss adjustment in the base?

So when I see your 70s Fender decal on a neck that has adjustment in the headstock, your phony bass stands out a mile away. Its obviously either a Squier or MIM or something else faked to look like a MIA. So unless you get a proper MIM decal you're doing a terrible fake job imo. But thats me, I feel bad for the guy or newbie who doesnt know any better.

Some of us realize that there are also MIA models with truss rod access at the headstock.

I don't get it. If you did all the work building it, why put a fake factory decal? I'd go for a custom decal of my name or something...

+1

If I built a bass, no-one else is getting credit for it!

Otherwise, it's a fake. The reasons for doing it may be innocent enough but there's a high chance someone, not necessarily the original owner, is going to try and sell it as a Fender.
