Question Anyone have a Walnut G&L L-2000/2500?

I'm digging the looks of the Walnut finish, at least in the pics on G&L's website. It has kind of a deep red look to it instead of brown. Just wondering if anyone has one and how it looks compared to these.

Im curious...what dont you like about the neck? I bought a G&L L2500 first and then got this L2000, so the neck was butter to me.

Remember; G&L doesn't necessarily come with a standard neck. They offer four width/radius combinations.

Are those walnut basses just mongoloid heavy?

it's a tribute, so i had no choice on the neck :-( i called and spoke to g&l about buying a tribute jb2 neck, but they don't stock or sell just the tribute necks. the guy at g&l that called me back was awesome. this is my first g&l, and he spoke to me for about half an hour about it. great service!

i've been playing jazz bass for longer than i want to admit, and the neck on this bass just isn't comfortable to me. at first i thought it was the neck width, but after talking to the g&l guy, he thinks it's the radius as well and suggested i upgrade to an american where i have neck choices (as chef mentioned). i'm debating doing that...

the body is ash with a walnut finish, so it's no heavier than normal. it feels a bit lighter than my jazz bass with an alder body. go figger...

I thought they just have a walnut finish over an ash body...

Cheers,
Chris

my newest G&L is 1983; I really quit paying attention to their new stuff over a decade ago. thanks!

It's O.K. us youngsters will keep you old guys in line.

What's scary to me is that the '94 ASAT guitar that I bought new is now 16 years old. That ain't right.

Cheers,
Chris

This is off topic but I think G&L manages to get some pretty light ash since my ash G&L feels lighter than my alder G&L.

rosanne: it's been my experience that weights really vary wildly with G&L, so not much apparent reason.

Thats true. My L2000 with the walnut finish is fairly light IMO. But my L2500 (tribute) is SO heavy. I had an issue with my back recently and I couldnt take it to gigs. It is just ridiculously heavy.

Weight is the only real knock on my L2500. I deal with it by using a thick padded strap, but yeah, it's a load. The necks and big bridge are the main culprits. However, it balances very well.

I've got a U.S. made L-2500 in solid walnut with the nearly naked finish. I think it's a fairly limited run. Let me tell you, I am in LOVE with this bass. It's pretty amazing.
