Anyone play a G&L?
Do yo play a G&L? What model(s) do you play? What do like/dislike the most? Pics?
um... the g&l club is on part 6. That's over 5000 posts, many with pics, from g&l players, past present and future.
My new USA-made L-2500 that I've owned for about nine weeks has become a favorite very quickly.
I think it's an exceptionally good bass, in every way that matters to me.
This is an actual photo, taken by the good folks at Bass San Diego, who I bought it from. Fine folks to do business with.
Ummm, yes. Tons of us do! I and many others on TB have owned & gigged lots of them since the early '80's. good luck exploring!
G&L makes super nice instruments. I've got an ASAT that is just killer.
I've got a pair of L2500 blueburst USA in fretted and fretless which along with my L2500 tribute bar bass are my main axes these days since I've dropped back to 5 strings. The versatility of this group defies belief!
If only G&L made that crew in 6 strings too!
(of course with the L2X00 basses you have to be into chunky necks, and knobosity which I am)
ASATs are kinda nice.
It's undoubtedly my favorite brand

I spent over $1000 on a G&L . I played it at home and it sounded fine. I played it at a gig and it had no cut thru sound. The tones kind of all ran together and it sounded muddy, dull and not good. I adjusted of course-- to no avail. I played at another gig in a different room where my P and J sound great. Poo Poo I tell you. I got rid of it . So not everyone has a good experience. Every company on Earth that makes guitars has some duds. I seem to end up with a few- now and then. I just move on. Unless it's a Fender I never go back to the brand . Once bitten twice shy.
Given you can't really go wrong with either Precision and Jazz basses...
What are/were the genre you were playin' and equalization and fxchain when you didn't cut thru?
I'm probably a bit partial over here, yet I play dowtuned thrash metal (also) with a two active seven string guitar attack in the band and obligatory double bass drum aplenty, and chose G&Ls a long time ago essentially for their attitude to authoritatively sit in a so crowded, compressed mix.
I like my GnLs for their range and ability to become agressive. If I want to cut through the mix like nothing else I play my Modulus not my Fenders.
I don't play a G&L.
I play three G&Ls! Not all at once of course.
A JB, an M2500, and an SB-2.
G&L JB special edition 2012 here...
great bass, a beautiful work of art, and most important, it has tone for days..
at the price of a Fender Deluxe jazz there is no battle.
