Hasn't anyone else noticed that's not a '74 neck?

AFAIK, by 74 the truss rod nut was at the headstock and not the heel as pictured.

If I recall, it was a transition period and '75 is the transition year. Even if it wasn't a '74 exactly, it's from that period which is tomato-tomato. All the Google photos of '74's come up with butt-end truss rods.

He didn't technically buy it, he footed the legal fees for the Pastorious family to continue, & finalize the court battle for its return to the family, from the store owner who had it.

I googled the images too and they show quite a few with the bullet TR.

Nevertheless, you're right that some 74's did have the TR at the heel it seems.

A little info on Trujillo's connection to Jaco's bass.

It looks pretty nice, and 1200 isn't bad for a '74 Jazz. My only hangup is that if he's willing to lie (poorly) about how he got the bass, what else could he be lying about? Busted truss rod, faulty/aftermarket electronics, hell, it could be stolen. I'd rather buy off eBay for some dough, and have (relative) peace of mind.

Pretty amazing considering Jaco was murdered in 1987.

It's really not too far fetched that the seller may have actually got the bass from Jaco.

This CL ad reads like a college prank. Some guy is angry at his girlfriend, so he puts together a poorly researched and pretty much incredible story and attaches his gf's phone number to the ad. I expect that if you go to the "cars for sale" section, he has one of Keith Moon's Rolls Royces for sale in an ad that includes the same phone number.

Fair enough, but it seems to me that if they were trying to sell this bass one having once been owned by Jaco that they would try to be more specific about things like that.

Seriously? I LOVE Jaco but if I had one of his Basses I'm either playing it or I'm making some $$$ on it. What business of his family is the disposition of his basses. The only possible exception being the B.O.D.

But Ebay is sight-unseen while this one would be in-hand...?

In any case, I like when people think like this...it lowers the demand pool and thus, the price

Just DO it!

Keep us posted if it's even still available.

Usually with a CL deal THAT good (even if it's not Jaco's bass) they're gone within hours.

Knowing the piss-heads on CL, even if I were to secure a chance...I'd be halfway and the jerk would sell it out from under me. Schmucks.
