Even if it wasn't a '74 exactly, it's from that period which is tomato-tomato. All the Google photos of '74's come up with butt-end truss rods.

Nevertheless, you're right that some 74's did have the TR at the heel it seems.

My only hangup is that if he's willing to lie (poorly) about how he got the bass, what else could he be lying about? Busted truss rod, faulty/aftermarket electronics, hell, it could be stolen. I'd rather buy off eBay for some dough, and have (relative) peace of mind. |
