The Black & Gold Bridge gives it away! The ordinary CSB-450 was available in Black, but didn't have the "Two-Tone" bridge unique to the Black and Gold Line. I've got one of these as well. Sweet players! They don't demand the "Big Bucks" the B-n-G SB-I's do. But then again, Cliff Burton didn't play one... Quote:

From the web searches I have done, I believe this is a CSB-450. It is a neck-through-body 32" scale instrument.
If there is anyone who can confirm / deny this I would appreciate it. I don't want to mislead anyone with the wrong model number if I put it up for sale. |

| | | | I have had my Aria Pro II bass for about 14 years now and for some reason never thought to find out more about it until today.
I had a friend who played guitar and being in a small town we were two of the few metal listeners back in the 90's so when he wanted to start a band he had to teach me how to play. It just so happened that he had a cousin with this bass he would let go for $125. After getting it then I did find out that Cliff Burton had played and Aria Pro II that was all I really needed to know then.
Today I have found out it is a TSB-650. Though the tuners have been replaced with Fenders.
I have never felt the need to play anything else. In fact I can't find any other bass that feels so right to me. Maybe it is because I don't have the largest hands or maybe it is how fast it plays or the action. Probably all 3. |

Oh, I scored a SUPER NICE 1980 SB-1000 last weekend. Walnut finish, and 2 "Imperfections". I'll take & post some pics for Y'all to Drool over tonight...

| | | I just had to make this photo series...
...before I sold one of my basses.
The row in the first pictures consists of SB-900, RSB-900 (2pcs), SB-1000 fretless, SB-700 (belongs to a friend), RS-800/12, RS-X80, RS-850 and TS-600.
I have also some other Arias, but those mentioned above, except the TS, shares the same body shape.

Thank you! | It certainly looks like a ī72-ī74 Aria model 1820.
I donīt know for sure, but think they came in white, black, red and sunburst during the production years. The headstock logo changed, they did not always use the Diamond brand. I think they even used the Diamond brand alone. Then There is the Epiphone branded ET (280?) wich is the same instrument with different headstock shape and (logo). The pickups on yours I havenīt seen before, have they been replaced?
Many original pups on these break or short, but when re-wound correctly (or overwound) they sound great, see my post on previous page, just above your post. |

And I'm also in the process of getting another Fairily Rare Aria Pro II, an IGB-805 5-String! (MIJ!)I might have some Alembic pickups/electronics that will all but Fall into this bass! If I could Morph it into a 5-String Black-n-Gold SB-LTD 5, that would be Most Groovy! But I need a 5er, and a Vintagey Aria will do me nicely!

May be anybody can help me. I bought beautiful bass, Aria Pro II SB-80, early 80-th. But electronic is not connected , two pickups directly connect to output jack. I understood that bass have two stack pots Vol/Tone neck and vol/tone bridge. But what sound changes must do two two-position micro-switches and rotate three-position knob? Thanks! |

But it looks like someone took a marker and tried to do a touch up. Am I reading it right that it's an auction from 2008? And from the Edge of U2 was selling it? Why didn't I know about this? I could have had a real shot at winning!
Anyway, over $17k! I wonder who won it? A member of Metallica maybe, or the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame?

| | | | CSB-450 Lefty I will be joining the Aria Club soon as I bought an Aria Pro II CSB-450 on ebay. Left handed quality basses are not the easiest things to come across. I am really looking forward to seeing where it fits in soundwise, and feelwise compared Fender Jazz bass and my Epi Viola. I'm hoping the 32" scale will give me the best of both worlds in ease of handling but maintaining the tightness of the E string. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
