I'm not looking to buy one... Just a shot in the dark to see what happened to my teenage bass! My first electric was a Yamaha BB300.. Don't miss that bass at all.

It'll have disappeared into the cloud more than likely! :-)

Lol, probably! But can't hurt to ask here in the Aria club!
I'm completely happy with my Carvin Icon 5 string but in all the electrics I've owned, that one sticks in my memory.

Found this one for sale in the hood. Around 200 bucks US. They list it as made in Japan. Any Idea what it is? Positive/Negetive comments?

Thanks,

And another one. I see a good number of these old Arias in shops and sites here in BKK. However the weather tears them up.

Looks like an early '90's MIJ Aria Pro II.

Posting (or posing?) a question for bassgod76 so he has an answer next time he checks.

Do any Aria masters know standard fretwire size/type (or suitable replacement) for an SB1000?

^ a few posts up.

Thank you.

Prostheta may know as well. To me it feels like a standard medium gauge. Using my caliper I get .1045 inches in width and .035 average in height with the few frets I measured.

A happy medium would be Jescar's FW47104 or FW45100. FW47104 comes in the gold Evo alloy also which goes with the brass wonderfully. I would recommend it! I actually use the monstrous FW57110 which is probably as big as it comes.

This is based off Zuma's measurements and those off a similar bass. Both sizes mentioned will be as near as damnit.

Finally took some pics of the Aria 5er!

I have some Alembic pickups, but it will require some Routing! On the Fence about that mod. But I do want to add some gold String Guides and Tuners to get the Black and Gold look!

Ebony Boards!

Petite Headstock

Whole Lotta Tuna!

Actually this is a Very Sweet Neck to play!

This and my '91 SB-1000 are an unstopable Pair!

Very nice! I would love it even more if it were neck-through! The headstock shape works really well with the neck taper. Economical from a builder's standpoint. How do the pickups and the fretwork compare to your plethora of Japanese APIIs?

Nice bass! I wasn't sure if it was sparkly, but the picture of the back confirmed it.

And I agree- the headstock and neck taper look good together. Everything looks good with those hard-to-not-love headstocks.

Yes, Neck-Through would be a DREAM!

The pickups are Single Coils and very clean sounding. It sounds good, but not in the Classic Aria Pro II sense. The fretwork is there though! The bass plays like a dream, and the B-String is usable. If I can find the elctronics to go with the Alembic pickups I probably WILL modify the bass. An Aria Pro II SB Black and Gold LTD 5-String! But for now I'll enjoy the Stock Triple Black Goodness that it is! Oh, it's not Sparkles, but a Very Fine Black Metal Flake. The Flash exagerates the effect. She is a Beauty!

Nice catch MaddAnthony! I have certainly never even seen a dual pickup 5-string like that.

The neck looks nice and comfortable. Is it 18mm, 19mm?
