The picture was from a big band performance on the USS Hornet, an aircraft carrier now retired and parked at the Alameda Air Base. The band is The Bigband of Rossmoor, part of the Generations in Jazz Foundation, and has musicians from 8th grade up to 95 years old. The picture happens to only show a couple of the younger musicians, aside from me, but the rest of the band spans 4 generations.
Kind of a cool thing to have the senior citizens in the band pass along the music to the younger players.

Do you guys usually play your BVBs on the stand or off the stand and on its retractable peg?

The coloring of the wood is really very appealing, and the absence of a "fancy" top draws the eye to the bass contours. I've watched over and over how many people are blown away by the top you put on my bass, only to comment after a few viewings about the beautiful shape
I think it is gorgeous!!!! |

You guys probably know that March 14 is called "Pi day" after the pi which is 3.14.
At school, they eat pie which is fun, but I think this youtube is the best tribute yet to the day. What pi sounds like - YouTube

My notion, fuzzy as usual, was someone would own both and have the instant option of going from redfretted to blackfretless. And have a coordinated outfit to boot. |

I've been using the house amp for the Sunday dates lately, a GK 400 RB with some kind of GK 2x10 cab .... not bad, but a bit on the "too modern, too bright" side of the coin for me. My MarkBass set-up is definitely more suited to my style of playing, but why carry when there is a perfectly good amp sitting there | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
