Bass abuse.

So this morning I Was walking in front of my apartment building and noticed that one of my neighbors had left a Peavy 4 string bass just standing on the decking outside his front door, along with some videogame equipment.

It was -14C last night and at the time I was walking -7. What would drive a person to do such a thing? He only just moved into the apartment but there is no excuse!

If it's still there later I'll grab a pic, I was in a rush this morning and had no time. I am furious.

Then again: it is a Peavey. You could throw one of those in a lake, let it sink to the bottom, leave it for 10 years, retreive it back from the lake, dry the pickups and the bass will play.

Maybe he likes finish checking and mistakenly thinks Peavey shoot nitro???

Either way, ask him if he's done with it and it could be NBD for you!

I went past it again tonight (too dark for pics) and it was still there. I'll ask tomorrow

Thanks for this thread. I read about the idiocy some folks display and it makes me feel a whole lot better about myself. They call that "downward social comparison" and it's a good tool to posess.

You never know with some people. I once found a great vintage Wurlitzer 120 electric piano being thrown out, by the same people who were having a rummage sale. Lady even helped me get it into the car.

I've found that temp changes don't really effect anything all that much. My P bass sits in my car all week, day and night. Just a little checking in the finish, nothing else has gone wrong with it in the 4 months that I've been doing that.

But leaving it outside without a case? I wouldn't do that. It rains a lot around here.

Hey, if a guy wants to leave his bass out in the cold, what do I care? It's his bass.

That's inhuman. What if it was a three month old baby? Or a puppy? Or a three month old baby puppy? I know your kind. Next time a three month old baby with a puppy leaves his bass out in the rain, I'm reporting you to the humane society.

He may just give it to you if you ask nicely. It really sounds like an unwanted item.

If only I could...

I'd do the same with my wife (and sure I better keep my Peavey)

Cheers,
Wallace

Maybe it's his girlfriend/wife's bass and video game stuff and he's tired of her playing it all the time and playing video games with her girlfriends instead of paying attention to him and he's tossing them both out to get her attention.......

Nah, couldn't be.....
