I'm pretty sure Jason Newsted was involved with the bass tracks on that album (mainly for advise)
Most (if not all) was recorded with Alembic basses (most likely the Essence and the Spoiler)
In the digipack version of Chaos AD there's a picture of Paulo in the studio with the Essence 5 string. |

Yep, the bass in the pic is an essence. I think paulo also played Zon later if that means anything.....One of my favorites from the 90's here! I just jammed machine head's burn my peepers! Still cool even from '94! |
