Bass modified with Rick pickups?

Does anyone do this? Like a P bass body with Rickups in their respective positions?

Stu Cook of CCR had a P bass with a Ric toaster at the neck position. I don't think I've seen one with 2 pickups placed at the traditional locations.

I went to Bass pro shop and to my surprise they didn't have a single bass guitar.

that looks so amazing.....almost looks like something that would come out of the "pawn shop" series Fender has going.

WOW!!!

That's CRAZY!!! Seems like a brilliant concept though. Is that just all the hardware from a Rick? Think it would have the same tone/sound?

By buddy Andrew uses a First Act Custom bass with Rickenbacker pickups in one of his bands. The bass is actually his dad's, though. Sorry, this was the best picture I could find:

that's a pretty killer hybrid goin on there! I feel like a lot of the 'Ric' sound is just the acoustic nature of the bass (mine still growls even when unplugged!), but that would probably in its own way sound really killer. And for people who can't adjust to the ergonomics of a Ric, that looks like the next best thing! Now if only it were a maple body to go with the neck...

I wonder if that's the original P pickguard just cut up, or some custom job?

I've got a 66 EBO that was apparently modified with a Rickenbacker Toaster pickup at the bridge soon after production. Whoever did it did some fine work too - added a 3 way switch - works fine sounds fine.
