"Bass Mods" basses. Anyone heard of them?

Hey, I just stumbled across this ebay store that has some fantastic looking basses under the brand "Bass Mods".

They look amazing. Anyone heard anything about them?

Haven't seen them before. Nice to look at, but there's just so much more than looks to a quality instrument. I'd be nervous buying a bass that I couldn't play first. But maybe they have a good return policy.

I went to Bass pro shop and to my surprise they didn't have a single bass guitar.

There's another thread about the Bass Mods pre's here on TB. I've purchased two for my instruments. Al is a super guy to deal with. The basses are a new venture for him. I'd be willing to bet they're top notch. He really stands behind his stuff.

Yes. Also in relation to the neck I would say.

I have gotten a few things from them, he did me up a set of knobs, bridge and tuners that match , all in metallic purple .

I had no problem giving positive feeback, the shipped quickly, price was decent and the quaility is great.

pick guard is from WDmusic but the rest is from Al's music

never tried their basses but I am happy with my hardware

I too have gotten lots of bass parts from Al's over the last few years, but not an entire bass. He's in the Sacramento area. Very good guy to get parts from.

Interesting. But I wouldn't say "incredible" or "amazing" at this price. They pretty much look to me along the lines of what you get with a G&L Tribute for similar cash. Nice wood. Good looks. Decent parts. The main advantage of these is they come more styles such as 6 string and Spalted maple.

What I call "incredible" was my SX 6 string Fender clones for about $150.

They look interesting, and a 6-string Jazz-shaped instrument is something I've been considering for a while. I'm not so excited about the 18mm string spacing though.

So you bought that one!!!! Let me know what you think. I really hope they are as good as they look. Their preamps are really impressive. Similiar to a Bart but with some of the transparency of an Audere.

really thinking about pulling the trigger on one, since Carvin has no immediate plans of making a 6 string in the SB series.
