Guys, seriously stop being so insecure. This was clearly a project by a kid who loves bass and robots. A midi programmable robot bass is really cool! It is not meant to replace you. I think that's a dang impressive feat.

Unless it can deliver pizza, it can't totally replace a bass player.

Now we just need one that dumps a bucket of pots and pans into a work sink. Then you'd have Robo-Fieldy.

Very cool project. But imagine the time and effort that went into programming it to play that one song. I couldn't imagine a whole 90 minute set list! Also unless they have developed a self aware A.I. that happens to love music improv playing is out of the question.

I promise it's cheaper to hire me than to rent that thing.

I'm not worried about it. But it is one hell of a cool toy. I can appreciate that, since I used to program and play with some robotics myself.

Wasn't the octave effect going to do the same thing? I mean, we all play roots anyways

Some of you guys seems to really believe this was made to replace human bass players. It's jut a robotics project.

I have seen (in real life) floppy drives used to play music. It's not useful for anything. Just a bit of fun.

The article says it uses MIDI input. So it can play any song that has a MIDI file.

Of course, if it's just MIDI, then you could feed that into a synth with a bass patch and not need all that hardware. But then there wouldn't be anything to see.

It's really just an exercise in motor control. But people are more impressed seeing a robot do something that a human usually does.

It's runs from a MIDI interface, it could be 'played' using a keyboard if you so wished

Because they enjoy it. Because we want to. Because a human wrote it. Now, how about you get over yourself.

My reaction when I started watching it. I looked into it and it looks very cool and probably won't replace us.
