I think the leather onesie would chaff, no?

If you read my post carefully, you would see that I didn't say you would buy this Ritter if given $10,000,000. I said some of the participants in this thread would. But let's not quibble over details. LOL.

I love the looks of Ritter Roya's.
I think they are pure art.
The one pictured is not my favorite one I have seen but is very unique.

Now this one I would love to have. I would rock the heck out of it.

I like it. The pink strings are definitely not to my taste, but the bass itself is interesting. The price is more than I'd spend.

Anyone played this? The tuner on the back is something I'm curious about - does it get in the way?

Are the tuner machines on the back of the head stock? Its a cool looking bass, a one piece construction is intriguing.

I'd need to string it with something a little less "purple", and the comma in the price needs to be moved one digit to the left. Aside of those issues its a nice bass.

fretless AND one too many strings.
for those reasons you can count me out!

Looks pretty cool to me - otherwise.
I think not having any knobs on the face is kinda neat.

I think those basses are really cool and unique, but buying something like that and playing in a band would be like showing up to a biker bar in a tuxedo. theyre too expensive to be main players.

Agreed

Prefer more 'regular' basses myself

Every art form, including bass building, needs people who are testing the outer limits of what is deemed as acceptable in the medium. It's important to the growth of the medium. I'm personally always excited to see what Ritter and other bass luthiers are up to.

That having been said, I would neither purchase or play that particular bass. Not my cup of tea, although I don't doubt that it sounds phenomenal.

I love the look of the Ritters always have but the $ sign keeps me at bay I do a lot of club gigs and would not even think of using it live which would be a big waste having it collecting dust in my studio.

I really like the look of this one, purpink strings and all. I would lay down $15,000 for this, if I had that much.

Fair enough, and in the interest of showing solidarity on this thread- I'll split the ten million with you my bass brother.

That wouldn't be my first choice for a Ritter, but Jens is an undeniable master!

"ONE piece of Swietenia Mahogany"

He had a one piece flamed maple Roya @ the Montreal Guitar show that was absolutely stunning - a work of art & a feat of guitar building that not many would attempt...

Like it or not, it's people like Jens Ritter that push boundaries & keep the art of luthiery alive... Engineer, artist & a very personable, funny guy!!!

Danke Jens!

This + about a thousand. If guys like him didn't exist we would only have J and P basses to choose from. Keep at it Jens and to whoever got this beauty... enjoy it, and play the crap out of it
