It's the same reason I don't wear a massive gold medallion and a white leather onesie. | I think the leather onesie would chaff, no? |

I said some of the participants in this thread would. But let's not quibble over details. LOL.

I think they are pure art.
The one pictured is not my favorite one I have seen but is very unique.
Now this one I would love to have. I would rock the heck out of it.

| | | I like it. The pink strings are definitely not to my taste, but the bass itself is interesting. The price is more than I'd spend.
Anyone played this? The tuner on the back is something I'm curious about - does it get in the way?

I'd need to string it with something a little less "purple", and the comma in the price needs to be moved one digit to the left. Aside of those issues its a nice bass. |

for those reasons you can count me out!
Looks pretty cool to me - otherwise.
I think not having any knobs on the face is kinda neat. |

It's important to the growth of the medium. I'm personally always excited to see what Ritter and other bass luthiers are up to.
That having been said, I would neither purchase or play that particular bass. Not my cup of tea, although I don't doubt that it sounds phenomenal. |

"ONE piece of Swietenia Mahogany"
He had a one piece flamed maple Roya @ the Montreal Guitar show that was absolutely stunning - a work of art & a feat of guitar building that not many would attempt...
Like it or not, it's people like Jens Ritter that push boundaries & keep the art of luthiery alive... Engineer, artist & a very personable, funny guy!!!
Danke Jens!
