The Ritter is amazing looking, strings and all. I'd be very proud to play that bass anywhere.

Prince IS a bass player, and he owns a Ritter bass in fact!

Thanks for looking out - you're probably thinking of my bass, but this one was made later (serial 832, mine is 636). I think Ritter made 2 Platinums after mine, but they're both the "damaged platinum" version.

If the sellers gets 15K on eBay for this one, he will have made a nice profit - but he's probably fishing for offers.

Well, there you go.

Prince is a multi-instrumentalist who plays damn near everything! In performances (from what I've seen on TV, videos and such), though, I've only ever seen him with a guitar strapped around his neck.

So I kind of figured his main axe was the guitar.

Very cool bass, nonetheless.

He can play anything.
Here is a duet with Rhonda Smith

I had a great one in my favorites but he has his videos pulled down not long after they get posted.

That's not Rhonda, though - it's that Danish chick, Ida Nielsen, or "Bassida".

As for the Ritter, it's not for me either aesthetically or financially. I have an aversion to basses that look very luxurious, even if I do appreciate Jens Ritter's art.

I don't like it for myself, but it is cool. I certainly wouldn't begrudge it to someone who wanted one.

Love it, would be happy to own it; and should I own it I'd proudly rock it at any the dives I play in.
Basses are meant to be played.
Still I'm not sure how comfy those tuners would be in that position....

To me, Ritters are great looking basses.

I love the look, originality, workmanship, sound and feel.

I likely wouldn't ever own one as I would be afraid to break off a horn or pointy piece. Also, one playing a $100/man gig with a Ritter might look a little out of place. Just IMO though... as I play lots of expensive basses on $100 gigs!

Found it interesting that the one piece flamed maple basses had a retail price ~$12,000 (as reported by Bass Player mag), and one later sold on ebay for a little under 5 grand.

I think that $15,000 might be high.

Nice bass, although I would personally change the pink strings.
