Yeah, they switched over to Sunn's due to reliability issues with the American SS Vox's. Listed here:

A Buzzard bass would be perfect. Entwistle owned a lot of basses over the years, but this one was his design from the ground up.

That's cool, but I doubt it falls within my buddy's budget. Plus, I bet he'd opt for other high dollar options over this one.
