Why dontcha use stick-on fret markers? IIRC, there's a guy selling them on eBay.

You can remove them later, if you want--and they cost very little.

what else is out there with un-dottet boards?
Most of my basses do not have fret markers. I favor ebony boards, and I just like the clean look.

the boards on my basses are unmarked.
No front or side markers there.
They are custom built instruments though.

...any regular Warwick (however they do have tiny side markers - but the fretboard is clean).

I like the look of dot free basses, but the look of confused guitar players trying to figure out where I am...

I got my Carvin LB76 with no fret dots on the board, but they're on the side of the neck so I can see them when I look down in case I get lost. As much as I love elaborate inlays, I wanted to see the miles of ebony laid out before me, and I don't regret it.

My MTD Kingston didn't have dots (side only) and I found I didn't miss them. I don't look at the face of the neck when playing - I think they're of more benefits to other band members tyrying to work out what you're playing! My under-construction ACG won't have dots either.

Brubaker Brutes and they are very affordable with a modern aggressive sound.

I was also gonna say Roscoe. Mine is a fretless, but JBFLA also showed some fretted examples.

Like Munji, I also like the look of an unmarked ebony board.

I also have one fretted bass with no markers. My Marchlewski has an unmarked BEM board that looks just amazing

I don't look at the front of the board when playing so I've always leaned towards a clean board. I think it just looks... cleaner. And as with fretless, it can appear that you know what you're doing since there are no "notes" on your fingerboard.

I use side dots and I've had one bass out of every one I've ever owned that didn't have them. I dislike that. Even worse was a bass with identical side dots at every position.

Clean boards galore...

I did have one Brubaker made with block inlays but strictly for esthetic purposes only.

So yeah, I bought this one (Bone Avatar 6) in spite of the inlay work :

i'm looking for a fretted fender P/J style neck without dot- or other fret markers - i have seen a squire deluxe jazz that has a neck that would meet this requirement - any other ideas that don't put me in the $200+ category of a customized warmoth or similar neck?
