Howdy folks!

Here's a shot of my Worker Bee 7-String. It's got a single wide Delano and a big ole bridge piezo. I bought this back in '07 from the first owner who told me he got it from the NAMM show as a display model. For a while, this one was on the beebasses.com website, but I think it's gone from there now.

At any rate, this thing is fantastic. 35" scale, burl walnut facings, locking 1/4 jack, dual truss rods, etc etc. Long live the BEES!

Updates from Bee Basses

Here I have some update pictures from Fred on my Stinger.
It took a while and several mails but now some progress can be seen.
The first one is a shot of the body shape cut out. On the second pic is the nice Ziricote fretboard.
The part above the pencil line will be used as the actual fretboard.

- Hope you like it -

wow, bee basses are great !!!!

i'd love to get a 5 string worker from somewhere. i NEVER saw one in germany.

and i couldn't stand the long waiting either. so i guess, buying one used is the only way to go for me.... haha
ash body with walnut top, ash neck with ebony skunk stripe and ebony fingerboard. wouldn't that be a mean machine ?

Hi, you have a good taste for basses, thatīs for sure...
Well Iīve been waiting for a couple of month now for my custom order and understand your wish to buy used. The building time started with 2 months in February/March and goes on for an unknown amount of time.
Your wood choice is nice. An ash body with walnut top was also my choice.
Good luck with finding a used Bee!

I was at the Frankfurt Musikmesse once, where i could play 2 bolt on neck basses, which were identical except for the body wood: one was walnut and one was alder.
it was a huge difference ! and walnut sounded so dark and mean... just gotta have walnut :-)
and an ash neck somehow would be nice i think. i don't know it if's as stable as maple is, i hope it is...
do bee basses come with graphite reinforced necks ?

usually i don't like ash bodies that much. alder, maple, mahogany, walnut, that would be better. but i think a swamp ash back for the weight and the looks (with the ash neck), and walnut on top should give it enough mean growl.... right ?

If you want walnut for the whole body then you could have it chambered, that would make the instrument lighter.
Some say that makes an electric bass sound more acoustic too...
For a lot of growl a walnut body is a good choice. Ash/walnut will work well too as I believe.
But the pickups can influence the sound a lot as well.
Fred makes graphit reinforced necks. James Hart's Bee has such a neck if I am not mistaken. (He is a member here; so you could ask him...)
Donīt hesitate to go for an ash neck. Fodera for example uses it as an option, so it canīt be too bad. That wood is also used for axe handles which have to be pretty stable.
What manufacturer was it you tested?

It was Clover basses. They had their Avenger model, one had an alder body, one had a walnut body. The rest was completely the same.

MTD use ash necks, too. And the graphite reinforcement will help, too.

New owner

Finally get to be a member in the bee keepers club . Traded my Alembic Epic for a worker bee. Outstanding! I have never played or even seen a bee bass until the Fedex guy arrived. You think the notes and they arrive. I could not be happier. Beats out my p-bass, zon and alembic in sound and playability. Works for me.

I finally got a new message from Fred.
He had medical problems over the last weeks. Thatīs why he didnīt respond but Iīm glad heīs getting better.

Here is a Pictures of the neck. The fretboard wood will go all the way over the neck into the body (exept the headstock cap). Sounds nice

Greetings, all

Queen fretless 6 owner here. Been a Beekeeper since about 2006. First instrument I ever bought unplayed and unseen in person, and the best bass I've ever owned.

I've owned this bass for a year and a half and never looked back. I was alerted through leftybassist.com that it was on ebay and I snapped it up. After over 300 gigs it still plays like the day I got it

It is my first really good bass after alot of years of playing some pretty awful instruments

Left handed 7 string worker
7 piece 7-bolt neck w/ two truss rods and two graphite reinforcing rods
walnut body w/ flamed redwood top
maple neck w/ purple heart stringers
purple heart fingerboard
single passive aero-Q pickup

i just love it

-...iiiii...

Honestly, this is the most natural looking 3-octave fingerboard bass design I've seen (compared to some similar Marleaux, Jerzy Drozd, hyperbass, etc...) where you can actually reach the full treble end with normal playing technique.

Wow! That is stunning and you're right, I think that is the most natural looking 36 fret board.
Thanks for sharing!
