Hey everyone. Could use some input weighing out the best bang for the buck with regards to build quality etc between these two models.
I would like to own both one day but which ever one I pass on now will be at least a year or two before I can make another bass purchase in this price range. Why this decision is a bit tough. The other will have to wait until then
I've never played the SB series or any post 1998 US G&L's. Long ago I've played a couple Lynx basses (I believe it was called) a few early-mid 90's L2000 copies and some ASAT guitars. The quality on the G&L's I played was always great and I know many of you guys love your more current US models.
I've always loved the feel and sound of many G&L's overall and the more recent SB'2's def fit what I want as new main bass.
Dilemma is I've never played a Carvin. Between the compliments and great reviews on the quality from the Carvin players, such low cost for a custom made bass and tone samples I've heard the PB4 also has a lot of what I am looking for.
Since I'm in the same ball park $ wise I thought I would call upon the always helpful community to weigh in on the quality of more recent/current bass builds of the two makers, maybe even having owned or played both that could comment or give some input which being the better bang for the buck right now.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Update: Based on past experience with G&L and hearing that same quality being current, I know what to expect with the G&L. I have decided to go with my gut and pick the SB-2.
Thanks to everyone for taking the time to reply/PM
