Best bass that the consensus says sucks

OK, we've had the massive thread called "worse bass that everyone says is great", let's try the inverse. Both these must be flame war winners due to their subjective nature... I'll relinquish the floor to let y'all start a real good bonfire (heh) and I'll pipe up later with my choice for The Best Bass that Everyone Thinks Sucks!!!

Rickenbacker 4003 hands down if we're going by the general consensus on TB.

What consensus? Never seen one here, or if I have, it's been rare, and/or long ago.

Consensus would assume that "Everyone" hates by definition. I don't think any bass qualifies.

If you go by majority I'll prob say Rick, though I love em.

Yeah, I myself could never get comfortable with a Ric 400x - sound, feel, or ergonomics - yet they ARE well built, cool looking, and loved by many. Fenders and Warwicks are my poison.

Lotta Rick haters, and I can agree with some of their complaints. I even recently came to the conclusion that they are not really for me despite all that I love about them. I think the ergonomics and the bridge gets them all the hate, but they are really great basses.

Anything that weighs more than 9.635lbs or neck dives... Or T-40s and Thunderbirds.

Everyone says a Warwick bass is great. I played one at the store and thought it was THE worst thing I've ever held. Love my Fenders

I agree. For me though the sound makes up for the other short comings of the instrument.

I kind of wish I felt that way too, and I do to an extent. My current financial situation means I really need a bass that I can go to every time and it feels perfect. If I were rich I'd keep mine and just by another. Someday I will get another one.

Ric-hate is as close to a a consensus that we'll find on TB.

+1

Send me and zach all your heavy and neck-divey basses. We eat them for breakfast.

I dunno. Ricks are pretty much love or hate, and about an equal split. I don't think anyone just kind of likes them.

I love the way they look, like the way they sound, and hate the way they play... Also hate what they cost.
