Best Hardshell Cases for the Money

I tried searching this topic and didn't find much. Does anyone have an inexpensive, "go-to" brand or model that they use? I want to get a couple of hard cases for my basses and I don't particularly care to spend $120-150 on a nicer one. My instruments spend most of their time in my house, so the most durable thing out there isn't necessary. Ideally looking to spend under $80 per case.

Here are a few that I found with decent reviews:

If it helps, I'm looking to fit a P-bass in one and a Yamaha TRB 5 string in the other.

Personally, my favorite cases are those Gator Hard/Soft cases. I've got one now that's VERY scuffed and scraped, but after years of gigs, it's still perfect inside and never failed to protect my bass (note... I do NOT fly with one of those).

With that being said, I purchased one of the hard tolex cases from rondomusic and was THRILLED with the value!

Are you referring to this one?

They are having a ridiculous sale on the Musician's Gear cases right now… $39 for the black and $52 for the tweed. At that price, it might be hard not to at least give them a try.

Sweet! Will these fit 35" scale basses?

Find a product on MF without decent reviews.

It's their house brand. It's as cheap as it can get. If that's good enough then go for it. Otherwise the SKB cases with TSA latches are pretty great. I have a 1KSB-44. Best case I've ever owned.

I too like the SKB 44 case. But that is what you stated you didn't want to pay. Gator GC-Bass Deluxe Bass Guitar Case is $99 and very nice. The problem with many lesser expensive cases is they are made of wood (heavy as heck)

Of the cases you posted links to, the above link is the one I would go for.

"Good case" and "Musicians Gear" don't belong in the same sentence. They're okay cases, but don't last the long haul. The 1st tolex case listed are pretty crappy.

The SKB, Gator, and the real G&G are the best.

I hear ya. I'm thinking I might try one out anyway, considering it's less than $40. If it sucks that badly, I'll return it or put it up on CraigsList

X2

I have this same case and carry my warwick Corvette in it. Its fine. Is it flight ready? No. Am I going let a gorrila throw it around like the old Samsonite commercials? Not hardly. Will it last more than years? Eh....we will see. But it has made it through the first year just fine gigging with it about every weekend.
It is NOT a case someone is going to want to put a 3k dollar bass in and gig three times a week on a tour with. But its just fine for a weekend warrior and will certainly cover the OP's. criteria.

I got mine off amazon.
