Switching my pre/DI-pedal from Sansamp BDDI to Aguilar Tonehammer. Since I always DI from pedal to FOH the audience will finally get to enjoy the sound of my basses instead of the Sansamp cover-all-carpet ;-)

2012, for me, was the year of buying. I picked up (OMG!!!) 7 basses and an amp. Figure 2013 will (hopefully) be the year of selling.

Right now, I'm thinking a Rick Turner Renaissance fretless four-string might be the favorite of the bunch. I put some TI Acousticore strings and, wholy moly! the thing sounds absolutely sublime!

I could listen to that thing all day long playing nothing but whole notes and half notes. It has a very natural mwah that goes on for days!

Love it!

Gruv Gear Fret Wrap definitely. Eliminates bad overtones from strings I'm not playing and I dont have to concentrate on muting those strings as much. I dont use it all the time but when I need it, its invaluable.

FDeck III Hi Pass Filter 'pedal'.

Unique, cost effective, great sounding, very useful tool to optimally match some heads with some cabs.

Of course, the Glockenklang Blue Soul was not too shabby either!

iphone5, irig and a ton of apps for guitar & bass and recording. My recording computer went down over a year ago and have not been able to record anything since. I love this setup.

I love my padded Planet waves straps. I know it's a small thing but hell, I can play all night with these things -I don't even feel my guitar anymore. Seriously, prior to them I used to get horrible back aches!!!
Two things have dramatically changed my tone this year.

First, my always on pedal. The back bone of the band, my Heavy Electronics El Oso bass fuzz. What a rad pedal. I thought I would be on a similar quest to JohnK. I got lucky and found my sound on the first try. Score!

Second, my Carvin all passive, SB4K in vintage white, with BE maple fb, and tort guard. Classic style with modern curves makes me feel tingly. This bass retired other basses. It is now my number one. Carvin's take on the Jazz bass is not just a bull's eye. It's one of those from Robin Hood Men in Tights, where the whole target blows up. The feel is perfect for me. The neck is super fast. Tone for days. Built to my request of, "the lightest piece of alder you have in the building, then chamber it". My jazz bass is under 8lbs and is a dream to play. Balances really well too. And, this is 7 months after the honeymoon...

tough choice to select only one piece of gear.

switched to Gibson Thunderbirds, which I love dearly, but probably my Genz Benz Streamlined 600 and Uberbass 2x12. I found my tone within a minute.

Then I believe I will have found Nirvana.
I run a Shuttlemax 12 through a GB neo212. Sounds amazing. (my first real rig.) Gonna pick up another neo212 cheap in a few weeks just for ***** since you can run two 4 ohm cabinets through the 12. Will post pics if the rig doesn't bring down my house....

As a non gigging novice musician with OCD who can't stop changing my bass strings when I randomly decide I'm an all-in flats guy, and then totally all about rounds, and then all stainless steel, then tapewounds are for me, it comes in handy.
