Wow.... Totally subjective is right.... I absolutely HATE the slap tone and slap ergonomics on a P.... And I LOVE my P's!

Best slap tone IMO Is a passive Fender Jazz. Active Jazz basses such as Sadowskys and Lulls are a close second.

I also love the slap tones from MTD 535 and Modulus Quantum basses.

A Fender (or any other good) Jazz bass, with lightweight (.030 - .090) stainless steel roundwound strings - like Ken Smith's Slap Masters . . .

Starting a Beatle bass with flats slap trend?

The youngsters would love that combo for slappa da bass!

I have, indeed, slapped a Beatle bass with flats. OK, so it's not quite as good as slapping a Fender or a fancy schmancy booteeker. But it's not horrible, either. Just have to add some treble to it.
