'55 Bill Nash P-Bass

I couldn't be happier. It's so good I almost don' t want to mention it to anyone. I've owned and played some old fenders, this is as close to getting IT, but this has no issues, and not the drain on the wallet. Included is a pic of it's maiden voyage. woohoo

"Ah! I started a thread about that bass when it first popped up at the LowEnd's in-stock page. What a nice bass ...
Enjoy!"

Scott traded this bass in at the Low End, and deleted the photo in the above link. I've got the bass now, so I'll re-insert the photo. It's a great bass, but I'm sorry to say it doesn't get much stage time. I've found that I have a hard time playing a four string after 13 years of fiver's.

I'm in!

I've never tried another bass quite as lively as this. That E-string really means business!!

I've been wrestling with the setup, trying to get the action the way I like it. 2 washers under the truss rod nut + a thick shim and it's finally starting to behave. (Just curious, anyone else have to do this?)

The Dimarzios are sure tasty. (Anyone know how they compare w/ the Lollars?)

I have the first 5 string he made, or so Brian from the Lowend says. It's a sunburts J that I string E to C. Best instrument I've ever owned. It just sings. I really want to get a P. I have an old '90 Warwick Streamer Stage I six that I ripped the frets out of that I need to sell to help get the cash together. If any one has a P or PJ they'd like to sell, let me know.

Hey, that's my bass. I guess you must have bought it, and decided not to keep it. I love it and am happy to have ended up with it.

Just one so far... I've been twisting his arm to build more, but as of yet none have been built or planned.

I'm in! Headstock decal by Factory Guy. This one's a JB-75, the nitro finish plays like a dream. I'm hoping to use it on a country project - "Freddy Fender" get it? Thank you very much - I'll be here all evening, try the veal!

the aging on recent maple fingerboards is superb.

I was just thinking his more recent stuff is a bit over the top.

When will he start doing customs again? And Low End doesn't stock him, where would I buy one of these.

Thanks,

Did you mean "if" Low End doesn't have stock? They currently have three new...2 J's and a '55 P. And a used J.

If I had the spare change, I'd be joining the club.

DiMarzio vs. Lollar Pickups

I have to agree that his maple board aging is incredible... I didn't expect the tone and smooth playability this bass has. Best playing bass I've touched in a long time...

My question: I'm looking at a 51 P Nash with Lollar single neck (not the split P) and a jazz bridge pickup - anyone have any experience with Nash basses and Lollars? How do they compare to the tone of the DiMarzio split pickup I have on the Nash P 57 ?

I like old school, dark, fat bottom, which I can get with the DiMarzio.
You think the Lollars are brighter, darker, etc.? I know I'll probably get a more modern sound cause of the Jazz PU but I'm more concerned about still being able to get more of that traditional P sound.

Any feedback will be appreciated and will help me make a buying decision... Seems my son is borrowing the 57 more and more, so....
Thanks.
