My Nash P-Bass

Here is my Bill Nash 1957 Precision Bass. I posted a review of it on TB at http://www.talkbass.com/reviews/show...ct/1581/cat/13.

Just last night I played a jazz combo gig using it. Played through my 1970s Ampeg B-15N, its the poster child for "old school sound."

Wow, that is rare and cool. I'm curious what pickups people have in their Nash's. Mine is kind of rare I think due to the rio grandes. I don't think he used them much, what about yours, Dimarzio, Lollar?

My buddy had a Nash Metropolitan in high school.

That thing was way ahead of its time and was designed for top-notch fuel economy.

I think about a new p-bass. I fell in love with a fender cs '59 (alder body / rosewood neck). I there anyone who played this bass and know a Nash with a similar neck-profile? I would prefer not to buy a Fender CS.

Thumbs up Waxing the back of the neck

I got this idea from the owner's manual for my Dingwall (which has a similarly minimal finish on the back of the neck). They advise to wax the wood every couple of months.

They use Kiwi NEUTRAL shoe polish. Apply a thin layer then rub smooth after a minute or two.

Seems like my Nash neck would definitely benefit from this maintenance. It's quick and easy and the neck still feels wicked fast.

EDIT: almost a little too slippery, now. But I like it!

Both my 63PB's have Lollars, and my 51P has a Seymour Duncan SCPB-2 Hot.

The lollar nash basses I've played have a richness to them that really knocks me out. they are quickly becoming my favorite pbass pickup.

+1--really likin' the Lollars on my Nash.

I have them in two of my '80's Japan P clones and I must agree with you.

I don't know if I've posted pics of my Nash in this thread... so here!!!
this is my main bass now. These pics are from when it was new... Now there is some authentic wear and tear by the bridge pickup.

I was actually playing through the Ampeg/Eden underneath it.
Those are the performance amps at my school. The GK is generally used for Uprights.

hey everyone. i'm a new member and just got my Nash PB-72 (inca silver) from Bass Northwest this past Tuesday and i love it. i have a question about applying the "Nash" decal: i emailed Bill about proper application and he said he never over sprays his headstock decals and told me to soak it for a minute in water, place it, and let it dry fully for 12 hours. i did all that and it looks OK. it IS quite "foggy" though. has anyone any advice for getting rid of that look without adding layers of lacquer spray/brush over the headstock? thanks and any info would be much appreciated.

Yes, an unlined maple board. Got my Nash from a fellow TBer last year. Now #1 in my blues band. I've had maple boards before, but the combination of maple and Lollars kick @ss. I use Lakland Osborn flats, and I can get bright or thump.

I'm totally plugging myself here, but i've had a few people ask me for sound clips.

While this isn't the best quality, you'll get the idea of fingerstyle and slapping!

Wink

Late 60's Nash P w stacked concentric pots. She's actually a very light/faded blue in color, but the camera did not really capture it.
