Black or Gold

Hey Tb'ers- I recently purchased this Pavel Jazz Pro Deluxe 5 here on TB and I'm really liking it... except for... the chrome hardware. Never been much of a chrome type guy and just think this baby would look so much better with either black or gold hardware (bridge and tuners). If I go with gold then I'd be looking into getting some wooden control knobs (thinking maybe ebony, to mach the pu covers and ramp). Place your vote and let me know what ya'll think.

I forgot to mention, I would be sticking to the same type of hardware (Hipshot B bridge, Hipshot clover tuners).

Also, I should preface my current feelings... While I like black, I kinda feel that its too popular, so to speak, and the new 'it' thing and don't want to feel like I'm going with the trend. At the same time, gold can sort of date an instrument pretty quickly too and also gold tends to be a make it or break it kind of color. But I'm so conflicted because with this wood color I truly think both would look pretty good. Just my thoughts.

I can't vote because I think the chrome looks fantastic!

Black would be better. Gold looks cheezy to me (unless it's on an all black bass! i think an all black p bass with matching headstock, black pg and rosewood board would look killer with gold hardware!), and i prefer black hardware with natural finish, it looks classy. IMO of course.

My preference would be chrome, but from the options, I had to pick black.

Imo gold hardware only looks good on a black or white bass.

I don't often see gold hardware that I like - it takes a certain bass to make it look good.

In order I'd say black, then chrome, then gold for this bass.

I'd say black. I want to change the hardware in my Stilletto to black and upgrade the pre amp.

I think that black would look better than gold.

If not silver, which looks good and sober, then black

Gold, as someone said, can be really cheesy IMHO

Cheers,
Wallace

I like me some gold... but for this bass, it's gotta be black.

Black. I'm not normally a fan of gold hardware.

Not a fan of gold, at all. On this particular axe it could work, though. IMHO, black for the win. It will tie up nice all the other details, like the black PU covers, knobs, and signature on the headstock. I'd also switch that bar on the headstock to a black one, while you're at it. Post some "after" pics.

I think so too, but in this case I would go with black bridge and tuners. It would also match the black knobs -- not that it's a big deal.

I think the chrome is the best for this bass. Between black verse gold, I would go black. Gold looks cheezy/plastic to me, and parts from different manufacturers never match - you know it's not actually gold.
