Black Keys bass--what is this?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ga8eRdFK710
Does anyone know what kind of bass is being played in this video? Thanks!

Can't get a good enough look.

They sure did a good job of cutting the bass player out of that video. Bummer.

DeliriumTremens 03-01-2013 02:02 PM

looks like a Teisco or something similar

They're really just the two guys, so that might be why.

Ahh. I guess that would explain it.

Loving those bassless bands. Not.

The band is the drummer and guitarist/singer. But they record with a full band. And have a touring backing band. Just the nature of pop music.

No, they do have bass in their songs. (And I actually really like the bass part of this particular song, too)

Some pretty awesome Sunn amplification making the scene there though!

the newer records have bass, but the first ones didn't. Loved their sound back then. Now they just sound plain. I saw them about two years ago during their "Brothers" tour and they had a backline bassist. I think it was Nick Movshon, anyways he was playing a Mustang bass.

I concur. Freeze 2:37. Different bridge apparently.

chuck norriss 03-01-2013 02:37 PM

I _think_ Double E has an idea of what bass this is.

Mark Wilson 03-01-2013 02:41 PM

I could use some more pictures as proof.

Double E 03-01-2013 02:42 PM

Yeah...the bridge was changed. But that stock bridge intrigues me, looks like a pretty cool mute system.

Double E 03-01-2013 02:43 PM

I wasn't gonna post a pic really, until I found that priceless collage of bass beauty!

Indeed, I noticed that too. Besides that, it is very similar though. Plus who knows, he could have just replaced the bridge. Maybe the original broke and he couldn't find an exact replica replacement.
