It has some Dean Markleys on. The sound is pretty sterile too. Like cristaline and without character. Some people have issues with the look of the Bongo but not me, my problem is with the sound and weight. Otherwise this bass must be the best built I've had. The construction is amazing.

Not talking about output. Are you maybe needing new batteries for it or something?

I was just wondering if anybody else here had the same problem or am I the only one with issues about the sound of Bongos?
"Lack of punch and definition" is exactly the contrary of a Bongo's nature.

I just recently got another Bongo. I had an HH a while back that I had to ket go. I loved it but all I ever did with it was play with the knobs on it. To many tonal options. I picked up an HS and Im completely stoked! Much easier to dial in. Happy to be back in the family!

I'm still shocked someone would use such words to describe the Bongo's tone! It's one thing to call it ugly but to say it lacks....punch....I mean LISTEN to these clips! All different variety of tones, and none of them lack punch and/or definition! One of these is even of our resident Master Bass Guitarist, Alvabass, the very leader of this club!

The 18V Bongo pre amp will blow down walls.
This has been my experience with them.
Lacking punch? Impossible.
Something must be wrong with the bass.

I snagged a Dargie II with the HHp option from a TB member about 3-4 months ago and I am still having a love affair with it.

Yes, it definitely takes a bit of time and patience to learn how to dial it in but the one thing it does not lack is punch and definition.

It has moved up to my top 2-3 players and is either at rehearsal or gigs weekly in the rotation.

I have the same bass in the HH version but have an HHp on order right now. Next time you gig it let me know. I would love to see how it performs live and I'm only a few hours from you.

Got one coming up in Thornton and New Years gig in Aurora.
You north/south/west of Denver (I am assuming you are not east since not much is out that way).

Actually, I am East. I'm in Sterling. Was just in Denver today too. The wife had a doctors appointment there.

I'm sure you could contact EBMM customer service and get a few from them.

Hi Peter

I don't live in the USA neither but EBMM customer service was of great help when I contacted them by phone or e-mail.

Depending of where you live on the planet, EBMM could deal directly with you or you could have to use the service of an exclusive importer for EBMM products in your country. The customer service can tell you that too.
