I have a bad habit of selling, trading and buying basses, but I honestly have no desire or urge whatsoever to part with the Bongo. The looks had to grow on me though as I didn't really warm up to the aesthetics. I put up with a lot of slagging from my band buddies as well (on the looks). I have to be honest and say that I only kept the Bongo because of how well it played and sounded (am I shallow or what?). It really is a well designed instrument and a pleasure to play. I still am indifferent about the looks though . | There is nothing plain jane about Sapphire Black! Goes from a dark blue, to a graphite looking thing, down to plain ol black depending on the lighting!
About the looks, I think the Bongo is a beautiful instrument. It's unique, futuristic. I've seen uglier Jazz basses! The thing about the Bongo is that it tends to look good with any color! Sapphire black honestly wasnt my first choice, but once I saw it in person I fell in love! MM seems to have some of the overall nicest deepest finishes I've seen so far from production instruments.

The headstock rosewood...the fretboard is rosewood...
But the fretboard is not one with the neck...The two are separate pieces.
BFR special run basses...not common...and really hard to find on the used marketplace.

I'm a bit wary as to whether it was ordered straight away this end.
I was going to put a deposit down on another, but they want 50% deposit now, and they still say 3 months! After I've just waited almost 6. Not sure I can put down 50% and wait 6 months....
No dig at EBMM here...a UK problem me thinks.

I know some people who ordered new basses from EBMM and it was close to the 3 month quote...
Hope you get it figured out soon and get your new bass.

Attachment 302836 | An absolute beaut! Maybe when I get my Bongo back I'll try to get a real photographer and a real area to take photos in. Once again, nothing plain jain about Sapphire Black!

| | | What's everyone's favorite string set for the Bongo 5? I'm impressed with the stock EBs even though I haven't liked EB strings for a while but the B is too boomy and not punchy enough for me. I ordered some D'Addario nylon tapewounds since I've yet to try flats and I wanted to see them on the stealth. Hopefully I like them and they go well with whatever fuzz pedal I pair with the bongo soon |
