I have Cobalts on my Bongo 5 currently and they are pretty good but I think I prefer good ol Slinkys as they are smoother on the fingers, seem to have more mids and are not as aggressive.

These! This is what comes on your bass and I have had wonderful luck with them. They stay bright forever, never go out of tune and they sound great. There is a reason why Ernie Ball strings are the most popular string made.

I've used several different ones on my Bongo. Slinky's (stock ones), D'Addario XL's (my usual go to strings), Cobalts, and now I'm sportin' Flats (Chromes).

It really comes down to personal preference.

Chromes would be killer on a Bongo!

Found this thread today... I tell ya I HATE the Daddario XLs on my Bongo right now

Gotta go back to Slinkies or Elixir Nanowebs, both awesome on my Bongo

I could see why Freddels would like
Daddarios, XLs, Cobalts & Flats... those are all mid scooped but not what I"m looking for.

The XLs just neuter my mids... ugh!

I have had a set of Ernie Ball Cobalts on my 5HHp for nearly a year now - they're pretty good but I'd love to try some Ernie Ball Group 3 flats on the Bongo.
