I don't know how much my vote counts against what is probably already in the works, but here goes:

5 String headless all the way . . . I think I'd feel less then whole without the low B.

On the other hand, I'd buy a Brute 6 string with soapbars loooooong before I'd even entertain the thought of owning a headless bass (they've just never done it for me . . . but I do have to admit that the matte black SC proto that's pictured on FB is kinda sexy!!)

I'm out of the loop on that info. I have seen the prototype, very nice, very compact.

I don't play on 6's but I could play on a 5 string fretless brute tuned EADGC. I think this is going to happen soon as well. JAN NAMM 2013 should be interesting

Stay tuned, pics and a review of my new SC are coming. I'm going to spend a few more hours with it to get acquainted.

Nice review, thanks for that!

I wasn't aware that you were getting a demo model. Any word yet on when the waiting public will see the production models hitting the shelves? Got a Christmas bonus coming and, well, who knows . . . My GAS may get the better of me.

I wasn't aware of it until things started happening or not showing up. I can say that my bass got the personal attention of everyone in the chain to include Kevin, Tom and Donovan. I'm very happy with it. I am hoping that these basses will hit the streets just in time for Christmas. They had several issues to work out. One being the weight issue. The new production models will be chambered internally to get rid of some of the weight. They also had to assure that the MM pickup has 4 leads so that it can make use of the coil splitting mod. Some time in the future the coil splitter is going to be a standard offering on the Brutes from the factory. I'm taking partial credit for that. I'm suggesting a 3 way though instead of a 2 way. For those who need a link:
http://www.talkbass.com/reviews/show...-mjxsc5/cat/13

I'm waiting on a friend who has a really nice camera to take the pics.

Like I indicated earlier if the SC is upgraded with high end pickups and pre look out. For about $1200 nothing (new) in that price range will touch it. I've also heard rumors about a USA made Brubaker Standard Line ($1500-1700 PRICE RANGE)

Need some pics, Philly!!!

Does your SC use a different bridge than the regular Brutes? I just noticed you said it was proprietary in your review, but my Brute has the same bridge that Carvin and TBC use.

It's the same bridge. Good for pointing that out. I should have said the same proprietary chinese bridge that sevaral manufacturers use. LOL!!!! I made a correction to the review. Good catch man.

Not exactly demo, but close. This is one of the basses in the limited summer production run that we had in the showroom to use when potential dealers came in to talk about product. Since Walt was the FIRST to preorder, and the most patient and nice customer, Kevin and I sat down and decided that this bass, if Walt wanted it, would be his. Kevin did some personal tweaking to it and did super QC. When the bass was at Brubaker Custom shop, Kevin Walker saw it and played it. He really wanted this one. I did my own test on her, and then got it out to Donovan.

The first production run was limited, and pre-sold to several dealers who had customers. There is a four string still available at Corner Music in Nashville.

Azman, the order is inbound, will be at the shop in QC next week. With the size of the order, I have scheduled all the dealer orders to go out first, and then the rest should be completed by Christmas. There is a lot of basses that Kevin and I personally have to go through and do all the QC, as well as Gig bags and hard cases.

Hit me up here in a PM and I'll send you my cell # to discuss.

OK here's the word: The first batch of SC's were already put out but it was a very limited run. There is a 4 string at Corner Music in Nashville still for sale, and a four string at AP International. Dealer orders will be shipped in December so they can be stocked before Jan NAMM and also be available for Christmas. I'd check with the dealers to see what they have coming in or can get in. I do recommend my man Donovan. he doesn't mind dealing.

Cool pic philly! Very nice.

Hopefully you can post some higher-res/larger pics in the near future. I'd like to see all the fine details.

---------------

Also, for anyone looking for a 4 string Brute: I just saw a used MJX-4 Mediterranean - 1st generation (Artec preamp and ??? pups) posted on the GC Used Gear site - - - Search Keyword: "Brubaker" - - - A steal at $299.99

Somebody that's been looking to try a 4 string Brute better jump on it fast. I don't imagine it will last long at that price.

Oh yeah, also philly, I noted you mentioned this in your review, and see in your pic, that neck looks VERY noticeably thinner along thee entire neck on the SC than on the standard. Would you care to take a few width measurements - at the nut, 12th, and last fret for me/us? And maybe Tom can answer if this is the same as on the upcoming production models, or just on the limited first run ones?
