Just an observation: I know most of you surf the classifieds all the time, just like I do, regardless of whether you need another bass. I've been amazed recently by some of the prices that stuff is going for (I mean low), and by what is still sitting there not selling.
Bottom line? I wish I had a good amount of disposable income right now, because if I did I'd buy about half of the basses currently listed. You know sooner or later (maybe much later, but still) you'd be able to resell them for more. This feels like the bottom of the market. Of course, I could be wrong...we'll see.
(...and of course there are always examples of people asking too much, but in some cases I think they're just asking what the bass would have sold for a few years ago, you know?)

I agree, I look through the TB classifieds regularly throughout the day, droolin' at the pictures, wishing I could buy them.

I have got some good deals because young guys were in a hurry to get some cash. I didn't lowball them or anything. They just priced the basses to move. I'm sure I will be doing well to sell them for what I paid.

But stuff is definitely sitting there longer (and cheaper) than it was a short time ago.

That's why you'll see things sit unsold and prices dropping. Wait til folks get tax returns and things get bought up again. |

I also find that it is a great way to demo basses that you may never get your hands on. That said, if I get a bass for a great deal and it is not right for me, I always try to offer it back to the market for the same price I payed for it. YOu do bring up a good point that there are some great basses sitting there for a while at great prices, but I have seen 2 Sadowsky PJs sell in less than 20 minutes. It is something I really want and I missed both of them...
