Buyer's Remorse?

You always see seller's remorse on here but I've noticed not so much buyer's remorse. I just pulled the trigger on a Squire Bronco and I already feel like I spent too much on it. I got it used for only $20 under under retail and I plan on modding/painting/beating it to death.
I did go though GC so I knew I'd be paying more but I'll also have no problem returning it...

You could not have possibly paid too much for a Squier Bronco. They're a steal even if you pay full retail.
Mods for that bass are cheap. Fix it up and enjoy. I highly recommend a GFS Lil Killer pickup, available on their site for only $30.
Seriously, would it really be worth it to return that bass just so you could save 30 bucks or so on another used one?

If you hold on to it, it's going to haunt you until it's gone or completely modded.
Either way, you'll still have that lingering thought that you paid way to much for it.

Re: Buyer's remorse, for some reason it's a lot harder to admit . . . . until that particular piece of gear has been sold. Then it's OK.

We seem to confuse our gear with our identities.

i sold my bronco locally on ebay, and while i was waiting for the buyer to meet me, i started playing it. that's when i realized it was a really fun bass for the money, and wondered why i decided to sell it. i'm still not sure. it's a great bass for modding due to light weightness, short scale and good quality for the cost not to mention good bang for the buck.

I've had buyer's remorse. 3 times last year:

2012 Cort T35 (returned after 10 days because it wasn't my sound)
2012 MIM Fender Active Deluxe Jazz V (love the sound, weighed as much as a sherman tank, traded in after 30 days on an MIA P5 I had HUGE GAS for & was disappointed in)
2011 MIA P5 (traded for a Spector NS-2000/5 + cash)

I'm now happy with my 2 Spectors and a WIP MIM P-bass.
I really wish I had a Jazz in my lineup, though.

I had buyers remorse after I traded my GK stack (+$300) in for a Markbass CMD 102P. I could have sold the stack on the local classifieds and payed next to nothing for the MB.

Instant gratification is almost never gratification, folks.

I always have buyers/sellers remorse, whenever I buy or sell something.

Sometimes it lasts very long. Usually I don't regret buying bass afer a year or two :P

I bought a Fender TB-600 Combo amp in 2008. It came out to like $1500-$1700. To this day I have no idea what I was thinking. Anyway after a few months I realized the mistake I made and tried to take it back and they said all they could do was give me a $1000 store credit I for some reason said no. Then a year later they had a 78 P-Bass for sale and I tried to trade the amp on it and they said they'd give me $700 for it long story I didn't take the offer again because of financial reasons, then I decided I'd try a different music store and they said they'd give me $300 so at this point I just wanted to dump this thing. This thing was on Craigslist the entire time no one was interested in a trade or buying it. So one day I was on Craigslist in Kamloops I'm in Burnaby (3 or 4 hour drive) and this guy had a Traynor YBA3 and I asked if he'd trade me amps and he said yes. So a few weeks later I drove out there and we exchanged amps and like 2 months later I traded the YBA3 and a really crappy odd one out Peavey T-40 for a Fender Telecaster (USA) so with a little bit of patience and luck you can end up turning things around I might have lost a bit of money and hair with my original amp but I turned it into something I'm happy with.

I got buyers remorse when I bought my Sterling Ray 34. I ended up bringing it back because I could not afford it. Well 4 months later it is still in the store for $700 - 20% = $560isg out the door. I brought back my Sub Ray 4 which I bought and another bass and I rectified the situation and lowered my account by $50

Now I want the SUB back cause I liked it, just not as much as the Ray 34.

I HATE GAS SOMETIMES

Yes the other day I was talking about trading a bunch on a Ric. Please refer to my big bold statement above. BTW no Ric is in my near future now, I talked myself down

I just put money down for a Micro POG. Right away I started thinking "I'm never going to use this practically". Even though I've been wanting it for months. I'm like that with everything, not just music gear.

Buyer's remorse? No. It's part of the journey. Buy and try. Doesn't mean something is bad, just means it's not for me.

If you buy, sell, and trade enough stuff, sooner or later a few basses and rigs stick and then Ta Da ! Very little buying.

Well, for what it's worth you hear a lot of Ric stories on here where the buyer got one, found out they're not what they thought it would be like (and really wanted to like it but couldn't), and sold it...

Kind of like buyer's remorse with a somewhat happy ending eh.

My buyer's remorse is an SX guitar. Thought I'd want to learn how to play but now it's just a relatively expensive dust catcher... (thinking of giving it away actually just so I can get it out of my sight lol)

I have had a lot of it.....most recently I purchased a MTD KZ5. This bass was absolutely beautiful, but the sound just wasn't for me. I regretted it within 5 minutes of getting it home. I am in love with my Lakland's.

I also have went through the phase of buying cheaper basses with the intent to "mod"... personally I never found that modding made it that "angels with halo's" singing choirs moment....to me it still sounded like a Squier with different pup's and tronix. I did a VM4, a VM5, a CV Jazz, a SX Jazz 5, and a Squier deluxe active 5 and they still felt like a Squier or SX and sounded not so hot......

I used to get it all the time on TB. Being that no stores carried descent basses, I would buy one on here, try it, and if I didn't like it I'd have that feeling of being jipped (usually by the hype created by the bass company) and end up flipping it. I 1-2 years ago I settled on the late 80's Ibanez RD 707's and bought a 1990 SR1000 a few months ago. Now I remembered I don't really like the active tone, and am selling it. I get the buyers remorse, but it fades once it is out of site (out of site out of mind)

My own personal episode of Buyer's Remorse happened when I bought a MarkBass Super Synth. I read so many glowing reports that I just went out and bought it without trying it then when it arrived and I plugged it in I instantly thought "OMFG, what on earth have I done?!!" It is a DREADFUL excuse for a pedal (IMHO of course!) and should be renamed the MarkBass Truly Awful Synth.
I held on to it for three weeks wanting to love it and desperately trying to convince myself it was a good pedal/wise investment. Needless to say I sold it on.
The best part is I found out the guy I sold it to only lasted 3 days before he sold it because he thought it was just so bad!

I haven't really experienced remorse over a purchase, but there have been a few times that I've rolled my eyes, knowing that it was time to break out the tools.
