I'm looking buy a Warwick Thumb and while I was looking up the serial number, I noticed the website said the bass came from a Corvette 5 standard. The truss-rod cover is missing too, so I believe the seller took the neck from a Corvette and put it on the Thumb body to sell it.
The seller never said it was all original, but never denied it either, it just says "selling Warwick Thumb 5 strings Bolt-on".
Now my question is, is it right to call it a "Thumb" bass or sell it as one? Since the neck didn't come from a Thumb, it isn't an original Thumb or do Corvettes and Thumbs use the same neck and it won't really matter since they are both Ovangkol necks? Will it affect tone, play ability, and resale value? Is this a scam or do people do this quite often?
Thanks for any answers guys!
