Carrotts. There a lot of better root veetables that are cheaper and as good as ESP or Toby., Epiphone, chimese fender, MM SUB. There are a lot of under $200 bases nowdays that are nice players plus cheap enough that you won't worry about getting dinged up.

I've had an old 80s kramer striker p bass for like 23 years now, & it's my 'beater'; playing a questionable gig? Take the beater & leave the vintage p bass at home, LOL

given the two choices i would go with ESP...recently purchased the Tody deluxe...and it needed a lot of work out of the box...

of the two the ESP is the better buy...own a few ESP basses and they are all great...really under rated basses...

Recently bought my son the B-55 for christmas it was excellent right out of the box

Out of those choices I'd get the LTD.
But I'd probably get an SX and maybe try and get a hold of one of their older necks, with the nice looking headstocks.

Find something that's already dinged up, yet still a player. That way you know it can take your... er... tossing.

This. Might I suggest a pre-abused p-bass? They make mighty fine war clubs.

Is it something you'll destroy at a show? Something you'll mess around with as far as electronics go? Not sure what you mean by toss around, I guess.
