| | Registered User | | | | | Can anyone identify this '54 P-Bass body I purchased the attached body in the photos as a '54 P-Bass body, complete with pickup, wiring and bridge. Basically it is add a neck and good to go.
This is just a fun project and the price was more than fair so I am happy whatever it is, but I am curious as to what type of bass this body might be. The seller apparently has no idea.
What I do know is that the seller also has a Squier P-Bass neck that is a perfect fit, if that helps at all. My plan is to put a jazz bass neck on this body, so I presume the fact a Squier P-Bass neck fits means a Squier Jazz bass neck would also fit?
BTW, I am only picking up the body on Saturday so at this point I only have the photos to go by. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

This one does have an Alder body and the Douglas does as well, so I'll go with that for now. Makes it worth what I paid.

It could be a Douglas or SX, but again, nothing I can find matches the body or the color exactly... ditto for the Jay Tursers.

I am gonna swing by after work and while I am there I will snap a pic of the body and see if the fretboard hangs over. I am still 99.9% sure that the body in the OP is a Dougie.

I thought the color was pretty cool and for the price it seemed like too good a deal to pass up.
Now to find a neck for it!

Edit haha double post - dumbphone! | And another 1. That's just reflection, but it would appear to be a decent body regardless.

Well that makes it all the more interesting, because I would prefer the standard sunburst color!

The neck that it came with does indeed have
fretboard overhang. Here is a pic of the neck heel.
And here is a pic of the body (notice the
extra hole in the pocket).
