Can a G&L L model cop a Stingray tone?

Hi all, I have been gassing for an L2500 for sometime now. I have bee told you can get a decent P tone from one and even a Ric tone, but can one get that Stingray tone too?

Edit: How about the M2500 too? Thanks.

You will not copy exact Stingray tone. I have old version of L2000 from 1981, I had three Stingrays in past. I would choose L2000 without hesitation. L2000 is more present, more meaty than Stingray. You will not have such an crystal hights as on Stingray, but there is much more in the middle than Stingray has. I would say there is something from Stingray in L2000 but Im not sure what is it. L2000 from 1981 is my LOVE and I forgot about different basses, actually I dont need them now. Never tried more recent L2000 and I think that they may sound little bit different than those form 1981 though.

That is interesting. I love the Stingray tone with one hesitation, that high end almost clicky ness. In some music that is a little much. Thanks for the input.

L2000 for the win. I too have an 81. I don't think it really cops any other basses tones. Can get in the same ballpark but has it's own 'sound'. Never tried a M or L2500.

You select bridge pickup only and dial in active and parallel modes: there you're at!

Better on an L2500 (so, comparin' it to a 5er StingRay) 'cause you can reach the tension of the stringthru system: L2000 is top mounted only

Cheers,
Wallace

Less sure about the Ric tone, but you can work it out... almost away from a proper P kinda sound btw
