Can I ask a favor of any 5 string Ibanez Mikro owners?

I am trying to find a measurement of the distance from the B to G strings at the bridge. Any 5 string Mikro owners out there?

I hope this information helps you.

Who would even make such a short-scale B string? 28.6"?

The Mikro is intended for children. Therefore a smaller scale length is required.

That's a good idea. Maybe even set it up as a piccolo bass.

I was specifically talking about the B string itself. Where would one find such a short B to fit the bass? Who would make a B so short, and what gauge would it be? 130? 125?...

I understand your point now. I wonder if that is their main selling point. The bass will be cheap, but strings to fit the Mikro might be marked up.

That's quite funny. I suggest you go to the current Mikro thread HERE and ask how many children are currently members.

5 string mikro

Its for kids too... they are sweet little basses and I totally understand why so many adults dig them..

As for the 5er...I can measure this for you tomorrow during school hours. It seems that Santa Clause stashed one under my bed for my favorite 7 year old bass player who specifically asked for a 5 string. You should have seen the look on the mall Santa's face...

Here is that same 7 year old rehearsing with her band playing her 4 string Mikro

73 mm (2 7/8") from the outside of G to the outside of B at the bridge.

Here is a pic of it next to a four string Mikro
