Trolls. They seem to be more well informed these days. Under the bridge is alwys the best place for them though.

I can only speak to the pickups they have been using since I've been involved with them, which have been primarily Seymour Duncan and Aero. No, not underwound at all.

Lower impedance, and probably lower noise. I don't know all the benefits. I don't have much experience with them.

It depends on what you desire.

Well, half of communicating is how you are perceived. Work on it.

I measured a 5 string Bart right at 3.5, a 5 string Aero right at 7.0.

From these figures I came to the conclusion that Fodera was aiming for low noise and very broad frequency response, running away from the harshness that a hotter pickup may offer.

I could be wrong here, but I also believe Fodera Duncans use Alnico 2.

It seems like a great strategy to get all these benefits from underwound pickups and still have good output using a preamp like the one you build.

This is what I've been trying to say in this topic.

I may have to measure some Fodera pickups again. I may even take the time to put a video up...

Sorry. I've been saying I'm not a native speaker since I started posting. The way I write stuff wouldn't be offensive in my mother tongue...
But apparently you guys can't give me a break... Oh well...

Again, all you guys filling this thread up with your differing opinions, please go and get married and disagree in private. It is very boring to read & pretty off topic

Another Fodera thread driven off the rails by an opinion presented as fact, argued AS FACT to the death and then defended as merely the opinion of a misunderstood victim.

neodymium pups or any other strong magnet would help to get an agressive sound

The famous / infamous Wal-dera.
Now Wal's are some off the most aggressive sounding basses out there.
If I can remember correctly, the briliant bastard who comissioned this Bass claimed Vinnie Fodera stated he really respected what Wal do but that it is almost the antithesis of Fodera's bass philosophy.
That being the case it's easy enough to assume that getting certain aggressive sounds out of a Fodera isn't as easy as many other basses.

When I think of Wal basses, I think of the playing of Bruce Thomas (The Attractions). Aggressive, yes, but tastefully so...and his tone is fantastic to boot.

A Fodera YingYangStandard with a fEARful stack run with a PUMA 900.

You want aggressive.......this has got it in spades if I choose to dial it in that way!
