I'm glad I kinda had an idea of what my sound was before I got too deep into wanting to checkout or buy every new bass that comes out! haha!
My mom bought me a '74 Jazz as my first bass as a kid(in '78) and it's still the best bass I own!!!
Here's the list from there
1990 MusicMan Stingray 5
Japanese 60's reissue P-bass
Wasburn Bantam 5(mod with Demeter onboard pre)
Yamaha BBG5(mod with Bartolini jazz p/u's and Demeter onboard pre)
Warwick Corvette 5
When I became somewhat of a pro,I landed a couple of endorsements and so I took full advantage Lakland basses as an artist
Joe Osborn Skyline 4
2-55-02(rosewood and maple fretboards)
Darryl Jones 5(one of the 1st 5 made!)
Bob Glaub P with flats
Joe Osborn U.S. 5(passive)
55-94 deluxe fretted(my main axe now)
55-94 deluxe fretless(plays like a dream and sounds even better!)
(I still own the Glaub, both 55-94's,and the Osborn 5) Artist with Pavel basses
Pavel jazz Pro Custom 5
Once I found my sound,I stopped listening to other basses because I know how to get whatever I need with the basses I have! Thank God!! haha!
I'm looking for some type of hollowbody and I'll be done buying any more basses.I would suggest all my bass family to find that sound and stick with it...it'll save you tons of money!!
Peace,
JC |

Thirty-five years in, and that's it. I've probably owned well over 100 basses during that time and maintained a stable of around 35.

| | | | Höfner, my first bass, lent by a friend, returned
Fender precision 63, the workhorse over the years
Kubicki x-factor, one of the first from the late eighties, the first bass I really felt home
Leduc u-base, my 5-string experience
Godin z-1 fretless, the upright sound
lots of basses tested in music shops.
Music man bongo bass considered to buy but never did
Kramer xkb 20, the undestructable travelling bass
Humanbase xbase, custom made by Siggi Jäger, my best bass ever
Christof Kost, an incredible fretless prototype from the eighties
