Personally, this bass to me has the feel of a player rather than a glass case museum piece. It has a duller more utilitarian look with wood that is super hard and tough just made for heavy duty wear. Yet, in spite of the utilitarianism of it, it still is dripping with style! Just prefect for showing gentle class on stage! And that's tasteful class not some gaudy show biz thing.

This is why a while back I was looking into a guy who had a bunch of lignum vitae from an old ship deck for sale (still not cheap). Of course apparently that wood is now unobtainium. I'm sorry I didn't grab a batch for later.

To me, the ones you keep in the glass case are the ultra rare vintages and the coffee table ultra-shiny basses polished like a piece of jewelry. Nope. This baby is a PLAYER!

Wow. Really incredible. I had an opportunity to buy a CT for well under a grand. I was 18 and broke and couldn't swing it.

This is not a custom ordered bass. It's one of the Carl's Unique creations !

it was offered to me because I was wondering to place a custom order , and he just told me about it .So I was in the right place at the right moment and he made me an offer.

There are a lot of Snakewood on this bass. Snakewood are expensive and rare to find. It's very difficult to find piece larger than 0.7"x0.7"x5" , and this is not just any Snakewood. This is a High Grained ones , the AAAAA ones.

Silver wounded Pus and a lot of Carls feelings is in this bass !

Thanks

Carl's basses are workhorses all right. Case-in-point: Les Claypool. He brought a Carl Thompson to FREAKIN' WOODSTOCK. I respect that. You get a nice bass, no matter how expensive it is, if you like the sound, you PLAY with it. As far as I know, it's still in perfect condition.

Les was a lucky duck to get his CT when he was in High school.

The bass was offered to me unfinished, so I had time to choose some things like :

1) Dots Inlay
2) MM Pu on Bridge Position.

Thanks

OK - I'm still trying to figure out what "Silver wounded Pus" is? My best guess is "silver wire wound pickups" but I've never heard of that? Otherwise I'd guess you shot a werewolf with a silver bullet and collected the pus oozing from the infected wound and somehow used that as a finish on the wood . Gross but pretty darn exotic for sure
