It looks like my LB76, which I'm in the process of restoring.

It is a LB76A, which is a LB76 with the "Aniversary" treatment.

Flame maple top, alder body wings with a walnut sandwish. Probably J99 pickup and a 5 pieces neck.

the year ... I don't know but it sure is prior to 2006 because of the preamp layout and the bridge.

If that's the same one I think it is, it's a pretty good deal. My go to basses are Carvins, and two are 76s. Looks like early to mid 2000s model by the electronics and battery box. I can't tell if it's a standard lb76 with a flamed top upgrade or if it's an Anniversary model. The Anniversary model will have a thin walnut laminate between the top and back too.

Thanks guys. I currently play on 5 strings. A sr535 and a Warwick rockbass (4 knob extra blend for mid). Then I also have a Ibanez ex445 Got from a guy on craigs.
I love the feel of my Warwicks neck. The Sr is nice for the small hand guy like myself. The neck is still awesome on that older ex445 from the 80s.

The Carvin is 550$. It'd be my first 6 and also all one piece. Thoughts?

That's an absolute steal for $550! Buy it. If you hate it, you might even make money selling it. A new one is over $1500!

The weakest link in these basses is usually considered to be the preamp. But even that is way over par for a $550 bass. The pickups themselves are just fine IMO. And Carvin's playability, fit and finish are great for any price range. Assuming the bass is in good shape and nothing catastrophic has happened to the neck or truss rod, that's an amazing value. I think Guitar Center will let you return it if anything like that is the case.
