I wonder if any of those "P in a J package" pickups would fit in an SB5000. I wouldn't hold my breath for Carvin to make one themselves.

I guess the buzz on these is officially over at this point. Was a fun run and is still a great bass.

For anyone still interested, another nice SB just went up:

So which SBs did you end up holding on to?

Ah, the buzz is over, I sold 'em all and moved on to the next hot bass du jour

Hehe, I'm keeping my Translucent Pearl Blue fretted SB5000 and my black fretless SB5000.

I also still have the black passive/fretted SB5000 for sale.

Why do you keep saying this? As far as I know, these things are still flying off the shelf at Carvin. I guess if you're just referring to in this thread, that's just typical TB stuff.

I'm confused. I'm assuming it's just a joke, but sometimes it's hard to tell, especially since I know you've had some frustrations here.

Since these are made to order, most probably don't even reach the shelf.

Yes, I'm joking. Talking about the silliness of TalkBass. I love my SBs (even if TalkBass has moved on to the next Bass du Jour) and I am keeping them and will be playing them for a long time.

Ok, it all makes sense now. Sorry, I probably just needed that next cup of coffee.

You let someone else build a bass for you, Dan? It's a looker, for sure!

I was at Bass Emporium yesterday and spent some time playing a Lakland Skyline bass. I picked it up because it looked like a nice bass hanging on the wall and it was only $899. It seemed like a cool bass for the money but it made me miss my SBs for sure. There was a nice looking Elric J-type bass there for around $2400 that I didn't pick up because I didn't want to plant the seed

I did pick up a TC Electronic BC210 to go with a RH750 I ordered from Music123 yesterday. I would have purchased the RH750 from Bass Emporium but they didn't have any in stock. I've decided to sell my Carvin BX500 and SWR Golight 4x10 and go with the TC stuff for amplification.

When I got my SB5000, I already owned a Lakland Skyline 5 string Jazz. Only one would remain, and it ended up being the SB5000. Both played great, but the tone versatility of the SB5000 is just too much to ignore. I have 2 other Skylines (P and a P/J) that aren't going anywhere anytime soon, but I'm probably buying another Carvin next. These are amazing basses.

Just got a Lakland 55-94 on TB. It's SO different from the SB5000 that I didn't like it at first, it doesn't have the brilliant highs of the Carvin. But the two are nice complements to each other. I'm going to try playing mainly the Lakland for a little while and see how it works in my bands. But as others have said, my SB isn't going anywhere.

Fickle!!!
Weren't you singing the praises of the BX500 just a little while back?

I've been very very happy with my Genz Benz Streamliner 900, but I'm thinking about getting one of the micro GK heads as a tonal opposite, either the MB500 or the Fusion 500. Have you tried either one?

I still dig the BX500 but the feature set the RH750 is hard to pass up. If I had not played the TC BH500 I would have been happy withthe BX500. I haven't played the GK stuff.

So that was you!!! I knew I recognized your face from somewhere! I was the one with the fancy Brazilian bass. I too own an SB5000. Should have chatted longer!
