Photo Shop pros?

I've been searching online for a picture of this but I can't find anything. Would anyone with photo shopping skills be able to put together a pic of what an SB5000 would look with a reversed headstock (1+4 instead of the standard 4+1)? Really interested to see that because I just don't like the flow of the bass with the standard headstock.

Thanks in advance!

Jarrett, those honeyburst SB's are gorgeous. Didn't care for them?

The SB4000 is a funny story It came with dead Rayovacs in it. I swapped them out for new Duracells and those didn't work. Shipped it back thinking dead preamp, Carvin service agreed that was the probable cause. But later came to find out that if you switch from Rayovacs to Duracells, you need to bend the 9 volt connectors out a little in the battery compartment to accommodate for the slightly shorter Duracell to work. Had I known that I might still have that bass.

The 5-string is an SB5001 that I ordered after returned the Honeyburst SB4000. That bass was really nice. But I made one mistake and ordered it chambered instead of solid. That made a noticeable difference the sound of the bass. It had this sort of "hollow" spot in the low mids that I couldn't dial back in. And that difference in the EQ made the bass get buried in the mix compared to my SB5000s. As much as I didn't want to, I sent it back due to that. After that I ordered the blue one above and have kept it. Periodically, I think about reordering an SB5000 just like the SB5001 pictured above, but I'm so content with my blue one, its hard to justify the spend.

That's good info on the batteries. I've never heard that.

I'm anxious to see what my 5001 sounds like. I'm trying to go into it with an open mind rather than "looking" for a less than stellar tone due to the chambered body.

Sorry, didn't realize you had one on order YMMV and lots of people here really enjoy the chambered models.

I ordered the 5001 trying to get as light as possible but I don't care about weight enough to sacrifice the tone to the point where I just don't like it. Well see what happens when it comes in. I'm not fretting too much about it since I'll have 10 days to decide for sure.

FWIW, I played both 5001's and 5000's at NAMM and while that's not the optimal listening space, I was perfectly happy with both. I did end up going with a 5000, but that was ironically more about experiences with other basses and my personal tastes than it was anything I heard on the Carvins.

Conclusions.

You know I've suddenly come to the conclusion Carvin just makes really awesome looking basses. And I have one, so here I sit with the knowledge the thing will play as nice as the look. TB she makes me want more bass!

Yeah, they are nice, but what would I do with that extra string?
