Ya know, you could always just order a warmoth body with the routes you want, order a carvin neck, and pickups and electronics to taste.
I've been thinking of ordering a carvin neck for my p bass. I really love the neck they have on the 4k, and I've been using the sb preamp in my p for a couple years.

I was thinking the same thing about Jarrett's situation, but to be honest I would not rule out a Warmoth neck as well.
You might now want to rule out a Warmoth neck as well...They have many options including a slim taper now as well.

Man, I need to stop coming to TB - I have plenty of basses, don't need a thing, and the entire forum is one huge GAS-producing beast.

Jarrett got me to thinking. Just ordered an SB neck and a warmoth '54 precision body with PJ routes. We'll see how this turns out it a few weeks.
Got a carvin bridge and preamp already.

Do the SB necks swap directly into Warmoth bodies?? Not just the pocket size, but bolt pattern, bridge position, and etc..

If so, very interesting..

The necks and bodies are supposed to be fender pocket size. When you order a neck from carvin, it's not drilled. But an SB neck pulled from an SB would have a different bolt pattern.
Since the carvin neck is made for a 34 inch scale, the bridge location will be fine.
It might take a little tweaking, but it shouldn't be any big deal to mate the two.

Speaking of body size... Do any of you happen to know if the bodies of the SB are the same width as the fender jazz?

Exactly what do you mean by "width"? From what two points on the body?
