Very innovative use of Jazz control plate there, Hilton.

Please tell us more about this ^^ beast! That pickup reminds me of the Alvarez "mother-bucker" in my brother's old Dana scoop... And that bridge... That is a lot of chrome!

It's an Ibanez ATK300. Mine is an early one, 1994, made in Korea. It sounds a lot like a Stingray.

Don't own a bass yet, just getting into strings, but my friend has a Sx Ursa 1 for like 100$ It plays ok, but he said the neck kinda sucks. can't really argue with a bass that cheap though.

so far, I'm really digging my '90 peavey foundation. It's my first "jazz" bass, and probably wont be my last. the super slim neck is killer (I'm usually a fan a p-bass necks), but this one is just so comfortable.

Been there, and it's true! And the ones with more than four strings are great values too!

I can't quite go that far, but they are a great value, especially when you get one with an extra string at that price ( even if my picture sucks):

That ATK is such an interesting looking bass. I don't know that I've ever seen one in person. I'd love to play one...

This is my bass that I just love.
Aria STB Series.
Paid £40 for it, fitted a Quarter Pounder and Chromes and it plays and sounds amazing.
I'm selling off a few basses as I don't need them all but I just cannot bring myself to sell this one, I don't think we'll ever part.

But wrt cheap, I prefer the term " value", basses, I'm pretty much an SX fanboy.

I go with Bassist Jay. I also have two Ibanez SR 500s. I play a lot beachfront or over water and leave my Fenders home. The SRs sound fine, play easily and I love the way the solid mahogany body looks. Even when they were new they had a worn, classy look like they had a story to tell.

Another $200 score. Was shopping for an Ibanez SR700 or higher when I found this in a pawnshop. About 8-9 years old, but turns out it was in unplayed condition with only a few finish scratches that were likely from the shop--no fret wear or bridge corrosion and the plastic film was still on the control cavity plate.

Monster tone that's perfect for my band Televators, and after I fixed the neck-dive it plays and feels so good I can't put it down.
I'm a sucker for bound and blocked necks, and the finish matches my 1977 Ibanez Artist 2619 guitar--the Iceman series was their 1st original design after years of copying and the Artist was the 2nd.

$200 is my price for everything these days.
All 3 of my basses, plus a Peavey MKIII Bass head and 410TX cab were within $25 above or below that mark.
Patient shopping and the ability to spot the rare gems that might be a little dirty really pays off.
