Choices for a PJ style 5 string?
Want to get my hands on a PJ style 5 string and want to know all of my choices! Obvious choices would be Lull or Sadowsky but I need to stay sub $2K. Carvin seems to be a choice too.
Any builders out there?
Carvin is always a good choice. It sounds like you're looking to go high-end, but here's a $250 one worth considering just in case
The Squier VM Jaguar V
If you don't mind passive then I would highly recommend a Yamaha BB1025X. It's definitely sub $2k and it's a fantastic instrument.
I suggest Yamaha BB series...IMHO they have it covered at several price points, and very well. From the "more affordable" BB425 to the BB1025, and then to the high end BB2025, all are good choices. I have been playing a 1025X for over a year now. It has replaced several "higher end" basses in my arsenal, and kept me (for the most part) GAS free. Definitely worth a look.

Carvin (like you said)
you could get a Fender P5 and have a J routed, that would come under 2k for an AmStd
New Custom builds for under 2K are going to be hard to find.
Schecter Diamond P5- not technically P/J but the humbucker can be split (so almost a P/J/J). $550 street price.
Or get one of the new Squier VM Jag 5's!
