Closest tone to a Gibson Grabber/Ripper

I absolutely love the tone of the Gibson Grabber and Ripper basses, but I'm fairly certain that I'll never get my hands on one. So, what would get me closest to that tone, and what is it that gives it that unique sound?

Both are quite common instruments that rate pretty low in price and the Grabber was recently re-introduced.
Why wouldn't you be able to get one?

I snagged a reissue Epi Ripper on eBay not too long ago for less than $250 to my door, and it plays and sounds pretty close to a 1974 Grabber I had (in 1974.)

If the apocalypse occurs it will be my bass of choice to grab if my house floods out. It would make a decent oar in the great fire lake.
