I tend to keep fewer instruments for a long time, rather than either collecting many, or turning them over quickly. I'm not nearly as adept as some at describing the technical aspects of basses but...
My impression of the two 5 string jazz basses is this:
To me the AC has a tighter/quicker feel and response.
The AC is heavier by a lot. I think this may have a lot to do with the feel. Both Sadowsky basses I had felt similar to each other. Softer feel to me, with more give when I would dig in. To me, the AC steps up when I dig in.
The Sadowsky sounds more modern, while the AC sounds pretty much like a 70's jazz. Although, the preamp gives a little more either bass or treble, when you need/want it. It still retains the Fender sound.
The jury is still out for me in terms of which bass has a better B string. I still need more time with the AC
Both instruments are of the highest quality. To answer all the questions in the other threads; yes, these basses are worth it.

As one who has gigged a pair of these basses (A-C LM5 and ash/maple Sadowsky Vintage 5 with singles) for many years, you hit the nail on the head. The ash/maple spec is even more unique since Roger's stock pickup placement is 60's position... so again, ash/maple 60's position moves the instrument into its own vibe.
The Sadowsky has a more 'modern' feel to it all the way around... smaller body, flatter fretboard radius, much more aggressive preamp, and even the single coil 'Sadowsky' pickups have a bit more upper mid bite than the A-C. Wonderful basses, totally consistent (no surprises), light weight.
My A-C is bigger, a touch heavier, more rounded radius, much more subtle preamp, more relaxed pickup voicing, and to my ear, it sounds more like an old Fender, and it FEELS more like an old Fender, even though it is a 5 string. The A-C's do result in some 'surprises' due to a bit more of a hands on approach to building versus the super tuned Sadowsky production process. I kind of dig it. The little finish flaws and router marks, etc. make these basses feel like Leo Fender might have made them on his bench in 1960 or whatever.
I've recently sold my Sadowsky. The good news is, if I decide I miss that more modern take on a J, I know I can get virtually the identical bass as I had either used or new. The LM is going nowhere... ever

The neck pickup in my CAOJ bass was always quieter than the bridge PU by a decent margin. You had to bring it up fairly close to the strings and it still wasn't balanced. It turns out the magnets were bad. Jimmy took good care of me in diagnosing it. I just popped the new one in and, holy moly, does this thing sound good. I am so incredibly happy with it -- and all my AC's.
I love these basses!
