in relation to the newest weather: I tried to play the new Super hybrid bass Tom built called Sandy but it blew me away.

Seriously, I hope everyone out there in Clement land is OK for the "Sandy " storm who may live in that affected area.

Just received #187 purchased here on TB. Highly modified since it was born, but still a very nice bass.

Can I get a number?

Just finished a recording session for a coming album release with my band. Used my Clement #287 on 4 out of 6 tracks. rather tricky jazzmusic, but could do all the stuff with ease using the Clement. No EQ added to the bass sound! 10 seconds of soundcheck, and the tech guy said OK! Never had a bass that have sounded better, so thanks Tom!

You're addicted too!
I've tried to kick off but TC tempted me again, the b....
#281 will be my fourth C-bass. Had once a 6-string but I've sold her back very fast. This one will be keeper that's for sure.

Couldn't get another bass out of my mind. Tom does something special to the necks on his basses. Have never played another bass that had that feel to it.

281 sounds cool!

My new bass is 296. I couldn't wait 4 more to get 300.

Only a year and a half late after taking ownership of #170 in April 2011, but please sign me up for club membership.

Emailed back and forth with Tom this morning (could not believe how quick the responses were!) about a potential new project, and will be having some questions for the forum as I determine specs of what I want to order.

Jeff

The Nordie pickups and preamp are winners! I´m using the same in my #287. Great stuff!

Oh, I can't wait
But I heard from Tom that those electronic stuff has not arrived yet so I will probably have to wait for another few weeks until the bass finally arrives at my place

BTW I heard your band's soundcloud stuff and I think they are very cool. The youtube video too (it made me dizzy though.) I like them

Looking forward to hearing clement sounds on your new album

You have things to look forward to! Early xmas!
Thanks for listening to my band! We´re doing a CD now. Will be in the shops before xmas, and as download sometime early 2013. Used the Clement on 4 tracks. That is one good sounding and fast bass!!

First questions toward a new bass order...

#170 is a very comfortable bass to play. Therefore, I will use it as a benchmark for any changes in a new bass.

Scale length - #170 has a 34-inch scale, and I have it strung EADGC. I'm looking to go to either a 6 or 7 string, stacking 4ths on top (not going lower). With the thinner high strings, would a shorter scale length be prudent? Can someone describe the differences they have found (feel, sound, etc.) between a Clement 34 and 32-inch scale?

Neck Radius - Tom advised that he does not have the tools to radius a neck wide than 6 strings. #170 has a 16-inch radius, and as mentioned above, is very comfortable. Does anyone have a non-radiused Clement fretboard that they can describe?

String spacing - #170 has a 19mm space which, again, is pretty comfortable. I understand that many players go to 18mm at 6 or more strings. How much of a discernible difference is there in feel? I play more of a thumb and 4 finger fingerstyle style, but reserve the right to pop when needed.

Thanks, and I am sure more questions will be forthcoming.

Jeff

Jeff
My #287 is a 5,er tuned EADGC. 33" scale and 17mm spacing. I do think this scale makes it is more playable. If you put an F or even a Bb string on top, I believe a shorter neck will make the thin ones sound better and be more controllable. The thin ones are weaker strings that may bend more downwards between the frets, and may easily hit the wood if it is a long scale neck.

Nice idea with a 7 string in 4ths! Easy to play "Giant steps"
