Mike is here! Received #296 today. Played perfect out of the box. Actually raised the saddles a bit. One of maybe 3 basses I've bought that felt like mine the moment I picked it up.

Fit and finish are excellent. Tom really did a great job with this bass. It's capable of stupid low action and balances perfectly sitting or standing.

I'll report back in after I've had some more quality time....

So how about some pics????

Looks gorgeous. That fingerboard wood is just sublime.

Talk about a one of a kind bass that 296 is special for sure. I am blown away by the woods overall and especially on the fretboard.

Tom is building quite a legacy one bass at a time... Congrats to the builder and the new owner

Thanks! I'm very happy. My third and probably not my last Clement bass. As many of you know Tom is great to work with, has a quick turnaround time and builds great stuff!

Congratulations on the gorgeous bass aproud1

Let me post some pics of my #294 too

Tom's work was really fast but we had to wait for more than a month for the Nordstrand pickups.
I have no idea when she is going to arrive at my place in Japan but at least I have something to look forward to

I've owned a few Clems, but have to say that this is the most aesthetically appealing top/FB wood combo I've seen coming out of Tom's shop. To my eye anyway. I wish Tom would start doing headstock fascia - imagine this baby with a head to match the top!

I've been thinking about it. I just can't decide on the body shape.

So you're that guy, been following that one on Facebook. That is one sweet bass man, Bloodwood is amazing for a fingerboard.

Well Kim if you're looking for something more traditional. I love the Mike shape as I'm a pretty big guy. But may be too big for you. I like the Joan body style too.

What are you looking to do fretted? 4 string?

Matching headstock would be pretty awesome but I kind of like the maple face with Tom's logo. Now painted vintage colors I loooove the matching headstock. And thanks it is a beauty. But Tom has made many, many amazing looking basses. I knew the fretboard was going to be wild but wasn't sure about the top. But Tom recommended the combo and I'm glad I took his advice!

Yeah. The original plan was to do a Spalted maple top with maple FB, and possibly an ash body. Then I was thinking about doing a black limba/korina body/neck...but I see so many cool choices I can't decide.

Yes there are a lot of options. Fortunately that means it's easy to have any awesome bass. I tossed and turned a bit with my choices. The main concern being was the fretboard too wild compared to the body? I think it all worked out.

If Tom got some more black and white ebony I think Buckeye Burl, Black white ebony would be a rockin combo? Maybe too Larry Grahamish?

I also considered a redwood/bloodwood or maybe Bubinga? combo. Tom is pretty good at helping pick.

Well just put a trade feeler out for #296. Forgot to specify fret size and really don't like vintage frets.... Everything else is perfect.

Dumb question, but why not just send it back to Tom and get it refretted?

Just seeing what's out there, if nothing pops up I'm dropping it off Friday.
